"Still discussing the larger natural swimming pool but they performed excellent work on our existing fountain. Everyone from the company is genuinely kind and helpful. No hesitation to work with them now and in"

"I had hired Reggie to re-apply mulch - replace some plants that he had planted last year that didn't winter over & set up the fountain he had installed last year. Originally the job was scheduled for a Saturday (he was fitting me in because they were already scheduling out several weeks at that point); however, he called several days later to re-schedule for the following Saturday (which happened to be Memorial Day weekend). I was okay with this & appreciated that he was willing to work the job in. However, I came home from work on Tuesday or Wednesday that week & the job had already been done.
Initially I was okay that he had gotten it done early, looked great at first glance. However, he was supposed to cut the stump down to ground level before covering it up (this wasn't done this time or the last time they were here, it was supposed to be then also).
I went to our backyard & saw that not only was the fountain not set up, it was left upside down in the pond! He did tell me that he had to fire his fountain guy & didn't know anything about fountains. Not sure why that is relevant considering I had paid him to put it in. He needed to either get someone else who does know about fountains in to set it back up or reimburse me to get it fixed. It has been nothing but problems since it was first installed. Looks good when it works but the water has to filled constantly.
I had also asked them to secure a brick that had come out of the wall & it was clear within a few days that someone just simply pushed it back into place without removing the extra mulch in the way. Not a big deal, but it was frustrating.
I emailed him the day after they were here with my comments but haven't heard anything back.

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Yes, waterfall edges are still in style and even considered a kitchen classic. At one time, they were considered trendy, but now homeowners appreciate them for their timeless appeal, which adds value to your home.

Most home misters use several cups of water in a couple of minutes, or around a gallon per hour of use. That varies greatly depending on the size of the system and the power of the pump. If you are using professional services, you should ask about water use for your planned system when you’re getting an estimate. If you are using a water tank, make sure it’s filled before operation.

Yes, natural pools can get algae since they use the same filtration processes as lakes or streams. However, you can reduce the risk of algae by adding more algae-fighting plants and not installing your natural swimming pool in direct sunlight, as it promotes algae growth.

Even if you empty your pond before the winter, there’s a good chance it will refill naturally. It’s ideal in most cases, then, to leave water in your pond and winterize it instead. This method will prevent ice damage and protect wildlife. Plus, it’ll lessen the steps required to reopen your pond in the spring.

Fountain maintenance is an important part of having a clean foundation in the first place. To keep your fountain water clean, you can use a water additive designed specifically to limit scale, algae, and other buildup in fountains. Or opt to use white vinegar as a pantry-ready water additive.
