"Very dependable and professional. I called when I needed a plumber and couldnà  à ¢à  à  à  à  t find one. My brother told me about them. Shannon was very friendly and easy to talk to. She sent a plumber to my home an hour later. Len and Triston were the plumbers sent to do the job. They did great work answered all my questions and weà  à ¢à  à  à  à  re always on time. They finish the job in a reasonable amount of time. I was very happy with their work and I had some complicated plumbing issues. They went above and beyond to satisfy my needs and resolve my plumbing problem. if anyone would ask me, do I know a good reliable plumber I would say I do now! I would highly recommend Billy Yenolevitch and sons plumbing. Dave M, Plains"

"Hired for pump out and sand-mound septic inspection. John and Ryan performed the inspection and video work, but I didn't get the fellow's name who pumped the tank. All were friendly and knowledgeable (PSMA certified). Had an issue with appointment since an emergency popped up that took priority over our scheduled appointment (which, while unfortunate, is understandable) so we had to be rescheduled, but we were made aware before hand, and they were right on time for the rescheduled appointment. Answered mine & hubby's questions. Very reasonable rates. Absolutely would hire them again and recommend them."

"Danny, from HL Bowman, quickly understood the scope of the installation and used his expertise to make the installation seamless. As a result, the filtration system he installed is now operating perfectly to remove particulates greater the 5 microns from our well water. I would highly recommend HL Bowman for your plumbing needs. "

"Answered my call personally to replace a leaky, rusted cast iron sink in my kitchen with a stainless steel one. Proposed a reasonable price to complete my project. Came as scheduled and professionally replaced the sink (using the existing faucet which I wanted), he said it was still good. All went well and I am very pleased with the result. He is knowledgeable, and personable and I would recommend him for projects."

"I had a new jetted tub and wall finish installed by Dave and the team. They were very professional and efficient for the entire project. It was completed as promised with no issues. "The employees that arrived to do the work were good workers. They were either unaware of the contracted work or mislead. They were not going to install the J Channel per the service agreement, and they had planned to backfill the ditch with the earth they had removed. The contract called for the ditch to be filled to surface with gravel. The installers called the office and explained that a J Channel was agreed on and someone from the office delivered it to satisfy my request. They were going to install the J Channel in segments vs one solid piece across the length of the ditch. I told them the segment seems would allow the water to get thru the J Channel and weep thru our foundation once more. They did the work as I requested but had I not been there or had I been a customer that did not know any better, this job would not have been done correctly or as agreed upon in the contract."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.

Yes, shower water goes into the septic tank. Shower water is a type of greywater, and in fact, all water used in a home with a septic system—including water from sinks, toilets, the dishwasher, and the washing machine—drains into the tank. When shower water enters the tank, debris like soap and hair travels with it. The solid debris sinks to the bottom to become sludge, while soap residue joins the scum layer at the top. The remaining water is treated in the tank before moving to the drain field for further treatment and dispersal. It is important to avoid putting oil or harsh chemicals down any drain, as they can cause clogs or disrupt the beneficial bacteria required for proper wastewater management in the septic system.

For a long time, copper was our only plumbing material option. Thankfully, that is no longer the case. Copper pipes have been used since the 1940s and became most popular around 1963. It wasn’t until the 1990s that PVC pipes became popular and began to replace copper pipes. Therefore, a house built before the 1990s without recent updates will likely contain more copper pipes.

Bleach is generally not recommended for your shower drains. Although diluted bleach can technically help clean your drain, it will not unclog your pipes. In fact, bleach can harm your plumbing system because it’s so powerful. The bleach can change the color of your sink and even corrode metal pipes and fittings.

Often, people reach for bleach because it's already in their house. But it's worth getting a plunger or a drain snake for the job instead. It'll be a lot less money to buy a new plunger than to pay a plumber to repair or replace damaged pipes.

In general, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PEX (polyethylene), and copper are the three piping materials used in new constructions when adding water supply lines. There are some caveats. PEX and copper are considered ideal when running lines that will handle hot water because they are not at risk for melting and warping the way that PVC piping can. At $0.40 to $4 per linear foot, PEX is considered more affordable than copper pipes, which cost $2 to $12 per linear foot. PVC is considered appropriate in water lines for cold taps only.
