"We have hired R3 for several projects in two different homes (fences, bathrooms, and now kitchen). Each one has been very well done, on time and on budget. We are very pleased with R3's work and Jim is very diligent in making sure the job is well done. He is onsite with the projects and his crews often and has outstanding customer relations. We have always been kept informed of progress and on the few times that issues cropped up (primarily supplier issues) Jim has worked hard to come to us with recommendations for insuring the job stays on track. The employees and subcontractors that Jim brings to the job have been hardworking, courteous. The job site has always been left clean and neat at the end of the day."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Above all, the downside to building a new house is a longer timeline. You need several months to finish the build, depending on the supply chain and labor availability in the meantime. Building a home compared to buying one is also more expensive, both in the building process and when it comes to mortgage rates and property taxes.

Make sure you’re getting the right size to meet your space needs, including enough space both side to side and vertically to accommodate your RV’s features and allow you to safely move it in and out of the garage.

If you’re building an attached and enclosed garage for your RV, you’ll also want to give some thought to whether you’d like to add workspace, water or electricity, or additional storage. If so, you’ll need a garage with larger dimensions.

While concrete walls do not need to "breathe" in the traditional sense of the word, they do require waterproofing and dehumidifying methods, particularly in basements below the water table. Concrete both contains moisture from its initial installation and can absorb water when exposed. Ensuring proper basement ventilation , installing a vapor barrier, and controlling water exposure are all important tasks.

Designing a building takes 2-6 months, depending on project size, required permits, and revisions.

The best way to start designing a house is to know what you want before designing. Making a list of your biggest priorities in a home will help. Designing a house without an idea of what you need or want in a home will lead to many trials and errors that could make it harder to figure out what you need in your design.
