Customers say: Quick response

"Kai did a great job on my backyard. He prepped the area, laid pavers, installed irrigation, and laid the landscaping. He was careful and paid attention to detail. He had to remove part of my neighbors fence for access to my yard and you would never guess it. He put it back perfectly. He was also good about cleaning up at the end of each day. He’s a good guy and does very nice work."

"Timothy did a fantastic job replacing our toilet in our bathroom. He explained everything as he worked, helped us to get the best pricing possible on the job and was very friendly with my four year olds of daughter who was thrilled to receive an ECO sticker! Timothy went above and beyond to help us today and we will definitely be using ECO Plumbers again!"

Deschutes Environmental Services, Inc., (D.E.S.) was founded in 1971 by Joe Lymp. The vision was to create by design, integrate complete horticultural services with sustainable living. The name "Deschutes Environmental Services, Inc." was carefully chosen to identify his concept to bring the two practices together into one service. "Deschutes" was selected to indicate our service area, as the Deshutes River spans Central Oregon throughout. "Environmental" was added to bring forward Joe's desire to merge sustainable practices with the landscape design and maintenance industry. "Services", obviously, is exactly that, complete professional landscape services. Deschutes Environmental Services, Inc., works directly with and for our clients to create and maintain beautiful, lasting and healthy commercial and residential living environments.

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Technically, yes, at least some of the grass seed you throw on the ground will germinate. If the area doesn’t have good drainage, rain or overwatering can move seeds before they have germinated, leaving your patches still patchy. What does grow won’t have strong roots if there isn’t proper aeration.

Clover lawns stand up better against dog and cat urine than traditional turfgrass. If your pets love to hang out on the lawn on a sunny day—or if you find yourself with a lot of visiting neighborhood dogs—you could save yourself from yellow and brown patches by making the switch to a clover lawn.

There are several possible reasons why your Bermuda grass is not thick, with the biggest reasons being too little water, too much shade, compacted soil, drainage issues, and too few nutrients in the soil. Bermuda grass needs frequent and direct sunlight to stay thick, so thinning grass is likely the result of a lack of sun.

You should put pre-emergent herbicide and fertilizer on your lawn in the spring. Pre-emergent herbicide keeps weeds from taking root. Fertilizer helps your grass to grow lush and dense and blocks future weeds from growing. You can also add amendments, such as sulfur and lime, to enhance your soil quality.

If you use a starter fertilizer designed for this purpose, you can overseed and fertilize at the same time. If you opt to use a fertilizer for established grass or one with a weed control component, it's best to wait at least four to eight weeks after seed application to allow the new grass to take hold and establish itself.
