"Jeremy was great! Our gutters were damaged during the ice storm, so we needed to have them replaced. He was friendly, professional, explained what we needed to happen with our gutters and made good suggestions without it feeling like he was just trying to sell me extra stuff. His quote was lower than the other 2 we got (even with the additional downspout). He and his crew did a really nice job and our gutters look great! I’ve already recommended him to a few people."

"We had gutters installed on our new gazebo and they look incredible. Butlers Sheet Metal did such an assume job you canâ t tell that the gutters arenâ t really part of the gazebo itself. They were professional, friendly and the guys left no mess behind. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have quality gutters installed."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

It’s technically possible to remove some soffit material without removing your gutters, but it’s usually a good idea to remove gutters, fascia, and soffit and then reinstall them in the opposite order. Replacing soffits without removing gutters is likely to leave you with a less professional and clean appearance, and you’re more likely to do damage to your gutters and fascia boards in the process.

If you don't repair your home’s gutter leaks, water or the gutters themselves can damage your home’s siding, roofing, foundation, and landscaping. Untreated leaks encourage mildew, mold, and rot, depending on the type of siding material. The foundation, chimney, window frames, and drywall can also crack over time, leading to costly repairs.

If you don't want to install gutter guards, the most common and inexpensive alternative is regular gutter cleaning, either annually, biannually, or as soon as they start to fill up. Using a leaf blower attachment can make this process easier. Other products designed to reduce cleanings include gutter screens (made of wire mesh, nylon, or foam), which are typically less expensive than a full gutter guard installation. You can also find guards and inserts designed specifically to protect your downspouts or opt for a whole gutter system like LeafGuard, which integrates the gutter and guard into a single product.

Any small amount of standing water can be damaging to your gutters. It’s recommended that a ¼ inch puddle or more should be addressed. Failure to keep water from pooling in your gutters can result in clogs, algae growth, and pests that damage your gutters over time.

How long hangers last will depend on what gutter material they’re made from, but generally you can expect to get at least 10 to 15 years from them no matter what they’re made from. But don’t wait for them to break to give them a checkup. Inspect this part of your gutters on a yearly basis, and make repairs at the first sight of damage.
