"We hired Brent to install an island mount range hood in our kitchen. Right from the first call we got a good feel from him, as he offered professional advice and recommendations for the job, he reviewed our product options, obtained all the supplies and made necessary arrangements in advance needed to complete the job. He accepted delivery of our chosen hood and brought it the house. the install was no simple task and took the beter part of a day ot complete, brent was very meticulous and made sure the hood was perfect centered and just the right height, hanging, form the slanted balted ceiling. We couldn't be happier with the overall job. His work ethic is beyond compare and he even called a week later to insure everything was fine and that there were no problems. Since Brent is a general contractor he will be the first person we call for any large or small project in the future. We highly recommend BC Home Services."

"Very positive experience. Derek (not Derrick) is a contractor who started his own business a few years ago. He now owns a landscaping business as well and has 9 employees. So I was surprised that he wanted to take on my small job of cleaning a dryer duct. He is very personable, did a great job and cleaned up afterwards. If you need this type of service, I recommend him highly."

Range Hoods questions, answered by experts

Ensures safe electrical connections and proper venting, improving kitchen air quality.

Yes, with features like LED lighting and variable speed controls for efficiency.

Typically 1-2 hours, factoring in ductwork and electrical connections.

A range hood is an exhaust fan for your kitchen, and several types and styles exist. They are meant to remove grease, moisture, and fumes from your stove. Although some models filter and recirculate the air, the most effective ones remove the air through a duct that’s vented to the outdoors.

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.
