"Tree Town Construction remodeled and painted the exterior of my house. The work was performed September - November 2018. Before hiring him, I compiled a short list of three companies, based on their excellent reviews. References were called, licenses checked, and reviews on a number of web sites were checked. I selected Tree Town because they were able to perform all phases (siding, foundation correction, stonework, and painting) of the job. The owner, Mark Jordan, is a very skilled, agreeable contractor. He is a hard worker and his prices are fair. Everything he did, was done to my complete satisfaction. He did not get cranky when I made changes to the scope of work, and even assisted with several minor handyman-type tasks, such as replacing a couple high-mounted light bulbs in the garage. The door was weathered, and did not accept new stain to my satisfaction. Mark was very nice about providing me with a reasonable quote to redo the door with a solid color paint. He did not complain about possible impacts to his schedule. Because he does all the work himself, and sometimes is working on several jobs at once, the time frame was longer than it would have been with a company with a huge work crew. That said, I would rehire Tree Town Construction without hesitation. Mark is honest, fair, caring, and you can be assured the job will be done absolutely perfectly. Tree Town rates A+ in my book. You can hire them with confidence."

"Lifetime Windows & Doors were great. We started thinking about replacing our aging aluminum frame windows a few years ago. We got visited by a door-to-door replacement window company and got a good quote. However, the windows were very “chunky” compared to our sleek aluminum windows. So we got a quote from the big replacement window company and got sticker shock. We then found that Milgard had replacement vinyl windows that we could get in black capstone (both internal and external color), but the replacement company never got back to us with a quote – even after many back and forth communications. We then found Lifetime Windows and Doors. Morgan and Lindsay were head and shoulders above all other vendors we worked with regarding communication. When we found out that Milgard was delayed with the black windows we wanted, they found that Simonton had a similar window and got us in their queue. Yes, it took a while to get windows, but Tony and Hugo did a great job, installing all 17 windows. We’re super happy with Lifetime Windows and Doors."

The price was great and quality was great. He got it done in 1.5 days all by himself. He was open to discussing various options and seemed motivated to get me the end product I wanted rather than just a set way of doing it. He has obviously done a huge number of decks judging by how fast he knocked it out and how fast he sized up all the alternatives (size, ability to add onto in future, material types, waterproofing options for underneath, etc.). He didn't cut corners anywhere and used the proper materials, pier blocks, fasteners etc. there is no question that he is the one I would call if I did another deck. I'll be calling him to add stairs to the deck next year.

A note about materials: the tight knot cedar gives a blonde, knotty look. I stained with redwood color oil high quality oil stain which gave it a nice redwood color and helped hide some of the knots. I think next time I probably would upgrade to the clear cedar because the railings with this stain look amazing. However the tight knot fit the budget and looks very warm and nice after staining. I would not use thompsons or any other poly type product. Only a very high quality oil stain that soaks into the wood, not a protective film on top of the wood. Penofin, Sunfrog are two examples. I used Sunfrog which is made in west Lynn and it looks great. Soak up any excess after letting it soak into the wood. This is crucial for any oil stain to work properly. Don't let it dry on top of the wood. I'm typing this on my phone and il. Try to post pics if Angie's list lets me when I get to my computer.
