"A week before our counter installation 2 expert workmen from Signature Surfaces came to our home and made templates, and took measurements. A week later the workmen arrived at 8am. By 11am my new counters and new stainless steel sink was installed. Everything was absolutely clean and finished. Beautiful work. Excellent workmen."

"Last year I had Sankey Construction install vinyl flooring in my kitchen and two bathrooms. I can’t tell you how happy I am with with the flooring. Mr. Sankey was professional, courteous and timely. He took great pride in what he offered. The amount of care for my home and his craftsmanship was evident from day one. Great attention to detail. I would highly recommend Sankey Construction for any home remodel or construction project."

"Chris was very helpful with some advice for our particular repair project, due to a family emergency, all our project plans are put on hold indefinitely. It may be some time before we are able to have this project completed. When we can get to the project, we will certainly use his services."

Marble and Granite questions, answered by experts

The frequency for sealing marble countertops depends on several factors, including the quality and color of the stone, the type of sealant used, and the amount of traffic the surface receives. Marble has a porous surface that requires sealing to maintain its shine and resist scratches. As a general rule, you should seal countertops at least once a year. However, for heavily used surfaces, like those in a busy kitchen or family bathroom, you may need to reseal them every three to six months. Conversely, countertops in a rarely used guest bathroom might only need resealing every few years.

Rubbing alcohol won’t damage most countertops, and you can mix it with water to create a disinfecting spray to keep your kitchen clean. It’s safer than using bleach on countertops, which can stain and cause discoloration. Be careful with rubbing alcohol when it comes to lacquered or varnished surfaces, though.

Yes, a granite countertop can be cut in place. However, learning how to cut a granite countertop in place is a lot trickier than cutting granite in an open, well-ventilated space. You’ll also need to protect everything in the surrounding area (like your kitchen cabinets and appliances), but even that might not be enough to prevent dust from getting stuck in tight spots. If you absolutely must cut a granite countertop in place, consider hiring a pro to get the job done in the cleanest and safest way possible.

Cracks are usually repaired using an epoxy filler that matches the countertop's color. The area is cleaned, the epoxy applied, and then polished to blend with the surface, restoring both strength and appearance.

Silestone® is heat-resistant, so it can handle moderately high temperatures for a short period of time. That said, exposure to high heat can cause serious damage. You should never take a hot pan off the stove and place it directly on your countertop. Temperatures above 300 degrees Fahrenheit can leave marks or discoloration on the surface. Instead, use a trivet.
