"We have several trees around our house that fill our gutters with massive amounts of leaves. Home Smiles came and cleaned all the gutters in just a few hours. There were some areas that we could not reach with our 24 foot ladder but they had the equipment to do the job. The crew was very courteous and professional. Would highly recommend them without hesitation."

Window Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You should avoid using abrasive materials and harsh chemicals when cleaning windows. Abrasive tools like scrubbing pads, rough cloths, or steel wool can permanently scratch and damage the glass. Harsh chemical cleaners containing alcohol or ammonia can damage window treatments, frame materials, and special features like tinting. It is also best to use distilled or filtered water instead of hard water, which can leave spots or streaks. For best results, use a clean microfiber cloth to wash the glass and old black and white newspapers to dry it without leaving streaks.

One of the best professional cleaning solutions that won’t leave streaks is one gallon of distilled or bottled water mixed with 2 to 4 teaspoons of dish soap. Apply using a sponge in a figure-eight motion, and then use a squeegee to remove the majority of the water and soap. You can finish drying with a piece of old black-and-white newspaper to remove any residue for a streak-free clean every time.

Costs depend on fabric type, drape size, cleaning method, and whether additional services like pressing or deodorizing are included.

A handy hair dryer will quickly remove condensation from your window, but it’s only a temporary fix. The hair dryer maneuver will not repair the root of the window fogging problem, which is likely a broken window seal. If you need to defog the window quickly, such as if guests are coming over, use the hair dryer. However, for a permanent solution, defogging the window or replacing it are the only options.

Use of harnesses and ladders ensures safe roof access.
