"Phone call on Thursday, Geraldo came over on Friday to check the job & agreed on price. He arrived on Monday morning & work was all done on that day. Prompt & professional. We are very happy with the repairers done on our home & we would not hesitated to hire him again for any work we need done at our home."

"Homestead Exterior was hired from three bids and the comments from Angie's List.  Chris lived up to every expectation.  Even the neighbors have commented on the excellent job and overall improvement to the house.  Chris recommended a new paint scheme and not only had our custom colors mixed and painted on the house-was kind and understanding when we eventually went with different colors all together.  Our only negative mark is for punctuality and truly is was no fault of Chris'.  Rain prevented them from starting on the date agreed to and once he had reassigned his crews they had to finish the job that was started.  The one caulking flaw was promptly corrected and Chris made some unplanned repairs at no cost.  I strongly recommend Homestead Exteriors."

"JM Smith was great! I have to work all day, but I was able to coordinate an estimate (which was very reasonable) and installation via phone and texts. They kindly removed my barely-held-on gutters and replaced them with new ones in such a way that will last much longer than the previous shoddily-installed ones. They also took care of hauling away the olds ones."

"The plans were approved by the city the same day my financing came through, and I was assured that we would be done by Thanksgiving.  I discovered that a project like this is as much work for the customer as it is for the builder - cabinets and bookshelves need to be emptied so furniture can be moved to make way for the workers, and the actual work - wall removal, carpet removal, etc.  And because I have a dog and two cats, I sometimes had to be home for certain stages of the work.  Victor was good about advising me of the upcoming schedule, so that I could plan my days, and the pre-work needed on my part.  Sometimes he had to work around my schedule, and he was very gracious about that.  Bottom line - the project was completed 2 days before Thanksgiving, and the crews even helped move my furniture back into place.
A couple of times, things specified in the plans didn't work as well as expected.  Victor was great at seeing this as it came up, and making adjustments that worked better than the original idea. The sub-contractors also sometimes saw things that they thought might be better if done a little differently, and discussed their suggestions with me, so I could decide what I wanted (things like placement of lights, outlets, etc)   The workers cleaned up after themselves, both inside and out, and everybody was polite and considerate, not only of me but of my pets.
I love my new space, and all of my visitors do, too.  My family decided that I should host Christmas as well as Thanksgiving.  The new space is light and airy, and the floor is lovely.  I almost hate to put area rugs on it, but will, to protect it from furniture scuffs, and to make my blind dog more secure."

"Although they did a very good job in repairing the drywall in my garage, the paint we chose dried lighter than we expected. I requested they get paint that matches and repaint it. Of course, it would be at my expense. William said he would have Daniel come by but he never did. So now I have to find someone else to finish the job. They do good work but will leave you high and dry if you require anything further. Probably won't use them again."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

A simple A-frame chicken coop can take as little as three hours to build, but a more substantial all-in-one coop to house a large flock can take four or five days to build. Consult a local handyperson or custom coop builder for a time estimate based on the specific details of your project.

Average barndominiums last between 50 and 150 years depending on the materials they are made from, how well they are maintained, and the environment they are built in. Barndominiums are very durable and have a much longer lifespan than traditional wood homes. With proper care and maintenance, well-built barndominium homes can last generations.

The steep slope of an A-frame roof withstands high winds, heavy rain, and heavy snowfall, making them popular all over the world. A-frames also offer simple, quick construction. Finally, an A-frame typically has large windows on the non-roof sides to let in a maximum amount of natural light. Consequently, they are often an affordable building solution for the right homeowner and location.

The lifespan of a barn is typically 40 to 60 years, but with skillful construction and proper maintenance, it can last up to 100 years. The actual lifespan depends on several factors, including the barn type, materials, usage, and climate. For example, the posts of a pole barn should last 50 years or longer, but if the structure is used for livestock in a rainy climate, it may rot within the first decade. Custom designs with high-end materials tend to last the longest. To get the best estimate for your barn's lifespan, you should consider its material type and intended use.

The difference between a pole barn and a stick-built barn is in the construction. Large poles in the ground provide support for pole barns. For stick-built barns, 2-by-4 or 2-by-6 lumber (known as sticks) create a frame around load-bearing beams. Stick-built construction is far more popular for residential homes. Pole barns are more cost-effective because they require fewer materials and less labor.
