"install was great and very quick. my only complaint would be on the programs for solar and how that all works for the buyer. i had to figure out the tax side on my own and the rebates went to solar company. price was ok but after the mountain of phone calls from other companies the price was on the high side."

"It all went well. We came home from a vacation to find our 24 year old furnace had conked out during a very cold snap in December. Aire Serv sent someone out the next day who gave us all the options available. Salesman was professional and knowledgeable. He provided us with electric heaters to bring our house up from 40 degrees to our comfort zone of 67 degrees in bedroom, kitchen and family room for the weekend until the installers could come. The installers were polite, professional and punctual so that we were up and running the new high efficiency furnace the same day. Business office was helpful in providing the documents and information needed for the energy rebate. Love my new smart thermostat."

"Very positive experience. I barely clicked submit, when Brent responded by phone to my project request, and was here to give a free quote within the hour. He and his 2 crew members were personable, efficient, careful around houseplants & landscape. And when they left, I couldn't tell they had been here, except for my sparkling clean windows. I'll definitely call Brent again in the future, and happily refer my friends to Clear Image."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

In most states, solar installers need to be licensed and insured as solar professionals, although some states don’t have specific requirements for installers. You can use our state licensing tool to check if an installer you’re considering hiring holds the proper licensing. No matter where you live, a member of your solar panel installation company must be a certified electrician to connect your panels to your home and the electric grid.

Installing solar panels involves drilling small holes in your roof to secure the solar panel mounting brackets. These brackets hold the solar panels in place and must withstand strong weather conditions so they’re secured into your roof. However, holes and screws are sealed to prevent leaking and further damage.

Solar well pumps range from needing 200 watts of power to as much as 12,000 watts for heavy-duty pumps. Since the most common and cost-friendly solar panels are 100-watt panels, you’ll need between two and 12 panels. The average is between two and eight panels for standard pumps. Based on the average cost of solar panels ($1 to $1.50 per watt), you’d pay between $200 and $1,800 for your well pump solar panels—not including installation.

Insurance companies aren’t against solar panels, but they may have concerns about the risks and costs of insuring solar. The type of policy, where you live, and the insurance company itself matter. Extreme weather can damage solar panels, and faulty installation or electrical malfunctions pose a fire risk—this, in turn, can increase insurance company liability and payouts. However, you’re likely to keep coverage as long as you have a pro install the solar system, keep it maintained, can pass a solar panel inspection, and update your homeowners policy to include solar.

You shouldn’t hook up a solar panel directly to a battery. That can damage the solar battery and your appliances over time. Instead, install a charge controller between your solar panel and solar battery. Charge controllers regulate voltage, prevent overcharging, and minimize the amount of electrical current to protect your battery from voltage spikes.
