"I HIRED INSPIRATIONAL CARPET TO CLEAN A CARPET THAT HADN'T BEEN CLEANED IN YEARS. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, POLITE AND WISHED ME TO SEE IF WHAT HE HAD DONE WAS EXCEPTABLE. WOW IT WAS BEYOND EXCEPTABLE AND I WOULD HIRE HIM AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT. HE WORKED SOLID FOR 3 HOURS AND NEVER TOOK A BREAK! IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND A YOUNG MAN WHO IS WILLING TO WORK WITH SUCH A STRONG WORK ETHIC AND TAKE PRIDE IN A FINISHED AND PLEASING MANNER. DO NOT LOOK ANY FURTHER ...HE IS YOUR FIRST AND ONLY CHOICE. "My friend recommended them to me and they came out really quickly to give me an estimate, then I got a date scheduled for them to come out and replace the carpet in the lower apartment all under what the other company quoted to me as by about $1.5-2K the other company I tried to use for the project gave me a made up number with out taking any measurements just a visual and was also 6 hours late. Though I think it was just that one person who slipped up on the estimate walk around. So I can't really say if the other company who shall remain nameless is really that bad to deal with here."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

The complexity of installation depends on the type of flooring you choose and the level of expertise required to install it. While some materials, like vinyl or laminate, offer relatively straightforward installation processes suitable for DIY enthusiasts, others, such as natural stone or hardwood, often require professional assistance from a flooring company to ensure proper fitting and longevity.

A transition piece between carpet stairs and wood flooring isn't always necessary. A transition piece separates two types of flooring in between rooms and areas, like carpet and vinyl. Because the carpet on the stairs tucks into the seam, you can’t see the fringes, and there is no need to hide anything. However, you can use a stair cap if your stairs have a nose.

No, it works best under synthetic carpets in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas. Avoid using moisture barrier padding under natural fiber carpets like wool, which need air circulation. The barrier can trap the moisture against natural fibers and cause problems. Also, you can skip it in low-risk areas like upstairs guest bedrooms, where the extra protection often isn't worth the added cost.

Yes, you can put carpet directly on concrete. However, you need to take certain precautions to ensure the success of the carpet installation. For example, you’ll need to choose a synthetic carpet pad to provide insulation and cushioning and a vapor barrier to prevent moisture from seeping into the carpet.

While not always required, experts recommend removing baseboards before removing old carpet and installing a new one. This practice leads to a smoother process and a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. Removing the baseboards allows for a seamless carpet installation without the risk of damaging either the carpet or the trim. It also provides a good opportunity to repaint or stain the baseboards and inspect the underlying wall for any issues. If you prefer a quicker option, you can carefully cut the old carpet along the edge of the baseboards, but this may result in a less polished installation for the new carpet.
