"Originally I had hired Michael (Nov 2024) to do a bathroom remodel, in Sweet Home. He did the remodel and I thought he did an excellent job. However less than a year later and the tub and surround had to be redone. The surround was bubbling and literally falling off the wall. I reached out to Michael and he shared that apparently he used the wrong type of glue for the project. The type he used foamed out after application (hence the bubbling). I reached out to another contractor and inspector who came to take a look and it turns out that Michael had neglected to remove the plastic backing on the surround before gluing it to the wall, so the plastic backing was nicely glued, the surround, however was not. This not only caused the bubbling but it caused the bottom and sides of the surround to bulge out and areas where the water could get in. Michael has since ghosted me."

Wades Services will get your projects done quickly and within your budget.

"Wades services showed up for one and a half hours, to lay some self leveler to my front porch with out cleaning it as outlined in the contract. The then failed to show backup on the job for five plus scheduled dates. It finally got to the point that the company stoped calling to say they were not coming. The self leveler had pit holes through out the area it was poured and they failed to even try to smooth it out. All of the self leveler had to be grinded off of the porch and repoured. This contractor is a total joke. He then kept a large percentage of the 50 percent down. He talks about his contract that he does not comply with, they will tell you what you want to hear until they get the 50 percent in there hands and when they fail to show and make a mess they believe they should be able to keep the money. This post is in response to a previous post that he responded to.Do not believe a word he tells you. My next step is the CCB."

Decks and Porches questions, answered by experts

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.

Putting lattice under a deck will create a polished look that allows for air ventilation. You can also store items underneath as the lattice provides privacy and protection from the weather. You can also put lattice under a porch to create a polished look in the front of your house.

Rescreening your porch can take a few hours to a whole day, depending on the size of the enclosure and the amount of screen that needs replacing. If you decide to have a professional handle the rescreening, be sure to get a timeline and a cost estimate so you know how long you’ll be without the screened-in space.

A wood deck needs an annual cleaning, plus refinishing every two to three years, which involves sanding the deck and applying stain or sealer. If you have a painted deck, you’ll need to repaint it every 10 years. You should also fix and repair loose or broken deck boards, nails, and screws. Cleaning your deck regularly and applying sealant protects the wood from the elements, water damage, rot, mildew, and fading from the sun.

Often, cracked deck boards are just an aesthetic problem and do not need replacement. However, longer or deeper cracks may be a problem, especially if they are on the end of the board. You can fill minor cracks with caulk, epoxy, or sealant to prevent further damage and improve their appearance. Replace boards with more serious cracks, which could become a safety hazard.
