"This s the second time we have used Tim at Pacific Builders. He is very personable and easy to work with. He will bend over backward to make sure you are satisfied with his work. When he gives you a quote on a job he explains the variables and sticks to it. We would definitely hire him again."

"It went very well.  The workers were always on time, cleaned up each day, and worked with us in detail, making good suggestions.  The results are beautiful, especially the cabinets, which the company makes to order.

By the way, I already gave a review  very soon after they completed the work."

"Looking fora reliable, professional, highly skilled craftsman? Jay Hanks is the builder for you. Jay designed and replaced an old deck around our partially sunken 18' round swimming pool. The project was completed in the timeline he offered and is absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend Jay."

"He charges by the hour rather than bid, but his guess of the time and material cost was very close.  He and his helper are hard working, friendly, accommodating,  and cleaned up the site after the work was finished.  I would use him again for future handyman projects.

"Alex arrived on time for his estimate.  He was courteous, clean-cut and I immediately felt at ease with him.  Alex asked and answered questions for the project, the time frame, and my expectations.  He later called me with the estimate and we set an appointment for the work. On the first day of work, Alex again arrived on time with all tools to complete the job.  I believe he worked two days on this project.  When he was done, he cleaned up the work area.  Alex finished on time and on budget."

"I wholeheartedly endorse Aguilar & Davis Construction as a business of great integrity. I chose this construction company from the 4 bids that I received, to paint my house and remove all sub-par trim that was replaced with superior Hardy Trim. There was great attention to detail and skilled communication throughout the project. I could not have been more impressed and very happy with the final result. All agreements were met and all of the end-job details were attended to, through the final punch list. 5 stars from this homeowner!"

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

The least porous countertop material is engineered quartz. Made from a blend of natural quartz and resins, it is non-porous and highly resistant to stains, scratches, and bacteria. This makes quartz countertops exceptionally low-maintenance and durable, ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where hygiene and easy upkeep are priorities. Other non-porous options include solid surface materials like Corian, which also offer excellent resistance to moisture and stains.

The average countertop square footage in a kitchen is 30 square feet, but that number varies widely depending on the size of the kitchen. Some smaller kitchens may only have one stretch of countertop or an L-shape. Larger kitchens can include an island or peninsula and more expansive countertops. When deciding what works best for your home, measure your kitchen countertop and make sure to include countertop cost calculations in your budget.

Choosing the right countertop material means balancing price, quality, and budget. However, there are a few popular high-end choices when it comes to countertops that many homeowners use to elevate their bathroom aesthetic:

The average cost to install or replace countertops is $3,105, with most projects falling between $1,858 and $4,177. However, the total price can range from $400 to $8,500 depending on several key factors. The most influential cost factors include the countertop material, the size in square feet, the quality of the new countertops, and the complexity of the job, such as the number of sink cutouts, corners, and special edging. Other considerations are the accessibility of the installation area and whether the project includes the removal and disposal of your old countertops. You have a wide array of material options to choose from. Laminate is generally the most budget-friendly, costing between $8 and $27 per square foot. On the higher end, slate countertops range from $30 to $90 per square foot. Other popular materials with varying price points include butcher block, quartz, granite, stainless steel, Corian, and wood.

Terrazzo is incredibly durable and resistant. It often lasts well over 75 years, as long as you take proper care of it.
