"I bought a couch from someone, and I realized it had an odor I couldn't get rid of. I called Extreme Steam and they gave me a fair and accurate estimate. When they came out to clean up my couch they were prompt and professional. I was very happy to report that after their services my couch no longer has an unpleasant odor. It even brought the color out and it looks more vibrant. I would highly recommend."

"Heidi and her crew are amazing. The job was to clean a house of a relative who had passed away at home and was a hoarder with cats. The job required hazmat treatments and multiple dumpsters over multiple days. I would have never thought the job could have been done. Excellent customer relations. She found important personal items and paperwork that I thought were lost forever. What an excellent company to hire even for the most difficult cleaning job."

"within minutes, I received a call from the very friendly and professional Michelle. Calling me all the way from California! Michelle explained the services she could and could not offer in terms of my needed furniture repair. And while she cannot help me specifically with my furniture issue, she offered a very generous solution: she is going to send me leather dye for the scratched ottoman and talk me through the repair, should I need help! Michelle also explained that she deals with customers all over the country, in need of leather and purse and clothing repair, cleaning, and restoration. Based on my extremely positive experience with Michelle, I will be sure to call her in the future when I need help with fur, leather or suede goods!!!"

Couch Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

Putting an air filter in backward can reduce airflow, which means your air conditioner has to work harder, putting a strain on your HVAC system. This can result in higher energy bills, premature repair, or even system replacement. Always check the manufacturer's guidelines to identify what is the front and back of the filter.

Always turn off the power to your HVAC system before you remove the front cover to replace the air filter. If there isn’t an off switch, turn it off at the circuit breaker box. This prevents the risk of electric shock and stops unfiltered air from passing through the ductwork while the thermostat is running.

Both an air purifier and a dehumidifier can help prevent future mold growth, but neither can remove existing mold. An air purifier will improve air quality and trap mold spores in the air, whereas a dehumidifier will reduce moisture in the environment. Keep in mind that you need to make sure your air purifier uses HEPA filters, which are rated for mold removal.

For washable or electrostatic air conditioner filters, you can soak and rinse them with water. If you rinse the filter with water, make sure to use a faucet, shower head, or garden hose with a gentle water pressure setting, as strong water pressure could damage the filter.

But for disposable filters, water could ruin the filter, even allowing mold to grow in the filter. Instead, these filters should be replaced.

Air filters with a MERV rating of 11 or higher need to be changed every three to six months. If your filters are incredibly strained because of environmental factors, such as living in a smoggy, pollen-rich area with a large household, you may need to change your filters every two months regardless of the MERV rating.
