"Three trees needed limbs raised as well as taken back from the roofline. Tree Titans gave a fair price quote, did the job within a few days, and cleaned up all the debris. Great arborist workmanship in trimming with tree health in mind as well."

"All American Tree Service (aka A Advanced Tree Service) took down more than 40 dead fir and madrone trees on our property without harming any healthy trees. They cut the fallen logs into rounds and stacked them for us to use as firewood and/or to sell in the future. They also removed or chipped all the slash and dead wood that was left on the ground, leaving a park-like setting. They are not just timber fallers - they are skiled and knowledgable arborists. They pointed out potential future problems and advised us on what should be done in terms we could understand. In summary, AA Tree service did much more than we bargained for, quickly, and at a very reasonable price."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Some fast-acting products can rot a tree stump in four to six weeks. Keep in mind, these products contain harsh chemicals that may prevent regrowth in the area. Other products, like fertilizer that contains lots of nitrogen, can enhance the process and rot a stump in about a year. (This is compared to the ten years it can take naturally for a stump to rot.)

Since overwatering can harm mature trees just as much as a lack of water, it’s important to know the signs of an overwatered tree. If your tree’s leaves are yellowing, wilting, or dropping leaves, it’s likely that you’re overwatering. Other common signs include rotting, fungi, soggy soil, soft or peeling bark, falling leaves, and brittle roots.

If you realize that you’ve been overwatering your mature tree, stop watering and give the soil time to dry out. Then moving forward, increase time between watering sessions.

Deciduous shade trees (the type of trees whose leaves fall off in autumn) need to be pruned in late winter—between February and March. That’s because it’s easier to find and remove sick or dead branches when no leaves are present. And wounds close and heal faster in colder temperatures so pruning them at this time also makes them less prone to infection.

Not every arborist climbs trees, but most will do so if that’s the best method for assessing or treating a tree. Arborists have a variety of tree climbing gear and safety equipment to choose from when climbing trees. Consult your local arborist about their tree-climbing plan if your service requires that type of task.

If it’s only a smaller branch that has died and you’re keeping an eye on the tree, it’s probably nothing to worry about. But if other nearby branches start dying off as well, or a very large branch dies, then you likely have a bigger problem. It’s time to watch for diseases and other problems and possibly get professional guidance on how to proceed.
