Tom arrived promptly on Monday morning with his son and installed the new heater in about 3 hours. He replaced some of the plumbing that was done poorly, and also rerouted a drain line through a wall to the outside of my house. He explained how and when to drain the heater to prevent sediment buildup. Tom's workmanship was clearly superior to the plumber's who installed the heater six years ago. This "affordable" provider also charged $300 more than Tom. I will call Tom for all future plumbing work and recommend him to anyone I know who needs a plumber.

I had a much better service experience at Lowe's but it came down to a significant price difference between the two companies. I woke to a broken hot water heater and instantly began doing online searches for replacement water heaters, pricing and installations. Home Depot touts same day installation if you call by noon. I called around 9:30am to several companies to ensure that they had the heaters in stock and could indeed deliver today.
I called Home Depot 3 times because each time I was transferred to the water heater department no one picked up. In between I had gotten through to a competitor. They were extremely helpful in giving me pricing, calling to confirm delivery that day etc. However when they proactively called back to let me know when the entered all the info in their system the installation was over $100 more than they had quoted me. That is when I called Home Depot back a 3rd time. I reached a gentleman in the water heater department. I asked if they had heaters, he said yes they had them in stock. When I asked about delivery and cost he said, and quot;oh gee, um, I don't know, I really wouldn't have any ideaand quot; He said that if I logged into the website there was an 800 number I could call to find that information out. He couldn't even be bothered to give me the number.
Being desperate, I looked up and called the 800 number. The installation group, Fast Water Heaters, I want to stress was great! They could not get the heater installed the same day, despite Home Depots claim of same day installation if ordered by noon (it was now 10:15am). But they were highly rated on Angie's list and even honored the Angie's List coupon on the order.
They (Fast) set up an appt for the next day. The installer was about an hour late due to a company meeting, but called and kept me informed. He was courteous and friendly. He wasn't pushy with some upgrade offers and cleaned up his work afterwards.
I highly recommend Fast for your plumbing and water heater needs, but Home Depot needs to work on their customer service!

The prior fridge didn'd have the water and ice maker in the door. We thought we would have to run a new line under the house but when I mentioned that my water heater was just outside an adjacent wall, Bryan figured out a way to get the water from that incoming line to the fridge. Minimal plumbing parts and time! Great job and great price. I had to call him back in January because a the valve that should shut off my outside water during winter wasn't shutting off properly and water was continually running out the open faucets. He came the next day and installed a new valve with a draining switch so I don't have to worry about water left in my lines. I never worry that the work is substandard or will totally break the bank. He even comes on Sundays at no extra charge!!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/or/hood-river/bryan-mears-plumbing-llc-reviews-6488056.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Atlantic Coast Pools & Spas","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"OR","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Kathryn T."},"reviewBody":"The heating element had to be replaced, but before he totally replaced it he told me that it may not be the problem. Rob also took me through each step of the process, showing me the voltage vs amps used prior to replacing the heating element, and after . I was happy with the work, and also comfortable with the end result. Up until this point I felt as though my hot tub was a money pit, and now may finally be able to enjoy it."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/fl/jacksonville/atlantic-coast-pools-and-spas-reviews-4418390.htm"},"position":10}]}

I called Tom at 8:00 PM on a Friday, and he answered promptly. He said that he would come out the next day after completing other water heater installations. He arrived at about 3:00 PM and determined that the defective part was non-standard and would have to be ordered. I decided to replace...
To buy heating oil for your house, contact local heating oil companies to compare prices and place an order once you decide on a supplier. The company will have to deliver your heating oil in a truck designed to carry and dispense heating oil safely. Call and order your heating oil early enough to have your oil delivered before you need to start using it for home heating.
On average, you’ll need about two gallons of oil per day to heat your house when it’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Most oil tank capacity is about 275 gallons, and heating your house with two gallons of oil per day will last about four and a half months. This consumption will vary depending on the climate and average temperature in your location. For example, if the winters are longer and colder where you live, you’ll probably need to refill your oil tank at least once to get through the winter.
You save money on heating oil in a few ways:
Make sure your home is well insulated and sealed against drafts and heat leakage.
Use a thermostat that’s working properly and calibrated accurately.
Increase energy efficiency by insulating your basement and attic.
Turn down your thermostat a few degrees.
Program your thermostat to lower the heat when you’re not home.
Order heating oil during the off-season when prices are likely to be lower.
Summer months tend to be when heating oil prices are lowest because of decreased demand. Buying heating oil during the off-season also prepares you for when the weather gets cold, and you need to start using the oil to heat your home. Although heating oil prices will fluctuate, it’s best to avoid purchasing between September and April, as that's the peak season for heating oil demand.
Overall, heating your home with an oil furnace tends to be less expensive than heating your home with an electric heating system. Oil heating systems stay warm for longer periods of time without drawing a constant electrical current to maintain a temperature. Plus, heating oil systems typically have a longer lifespan and lower price tag than their electrical counterparts, resulting in short- and long-term savings.
