"Matt installed ceramic tile for backsplash in my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. He arrived on time, worked without interruption until it was done, and has a great attitude. Fantastic job! Result exceeds my expectations. He also fit some emergency fence repair."

"We hired Demren Harnden LLC to install new trim and cabinets for our new homes in Central Oregon. Demren's attention to detail and ensuring the job is done correctly is his main priority. Above that though, his business organization is top-notch. He has always submitted his billings on time as well as any business documents needed, such as license and insurance information. Not to mention, he is a delight to work with. I highly recommend Demren Harnden LLC."

"Ian did an excellent job installing our custom Murphy bed built-in, in our guest room. He built us a super rad, custom Tambour cabinet and advised on design and materials. His craftsmanship was second to none, he was highly professional and had excellent communication the whole way. We wouldn’t recommend Ian more and look forward to working with him again!"

"Excellent experience! Grant built a very nice fence and installed a doggy door for my mothers house. He and his crew were very efficient, kind, and professional. We are a military family stationed on the east coast and despite that, Grant kept us well informed of the work that needed be done, provided a full detailed description of our options, and photos to view the progress. Outstanding quality work, highly recommend!"

"John Stitely was our contractor for our master bedroom, bathroom and laundry room addition. What a great experience we had with him. He was extremely honest, friendly, reliable and an excellent builder. We contacted him with questions in the evenings and on weekends and he always responded. He worked on the weekends for us too when we needed him to in order to meet a deadline. The quality of his work was also excellent and the cost was in line or less than other bids we received. He was always very honest about how we should handle issues that came up related to permits, etc. If you need a good general contractor, hire John!"

Grab Bar Installation questions, answered by experts

Strike plates and security plates are the same thing, but there are strike plates that offer more security than others. For the highest security, look for plates made of heavy-duty steel, reinforced strike plates thicker than regular ones, and extended strike plates. It’s much harder to break into a door with these strike plates because they hold up better to force from attempted entry.

It is worth it to install window bars for a few reasons. Security bars can slightly increase the value of your home in the eyes of security-conscious homebuyers, especially if you're living in an area with a higher crime rate. You may also qualify for lower homeowners insurance premiums by installing security measures like window bars.

To make your gate safe, purchase a gate made from strong material such as wrought iron, stainless steel, or other metals. Ensure that the gate has strong joints and bars that are welded on rather than inserted loosely. If you’re concerned about people climbing over your gate, you can deter them by installing fence spikes along the top as an extra precaution.

There are a number of ways to secure windows. You can add motion detectors or window sensors to detect movement and impact or change the window locks to make them stronger. Some of the ways you can secure windows are much like how you secure a home: closing the curtains at night and setting up security cameras outside so you can monitor your property even in your absence.

For many, burglar bars detract from the look of a home. Opt for a custom design made from wrought iron to make windows with burglar bars look attractive and balance security with curb appeal. Add foliage such as climbing ivy or planter boxes with flowers. Add colorful wooden shutters or paint the bars in vibrant colors.
