Small jobs welcome

Hello, my name is Brian and my wife's name is Bonnie. We have been metal recyclers for over twenty years. We have recently decided to grow our business and get our name out to more than just our local community. We pick up appliances of all kinds, cars and trucks with titles, automotive batteries, and we can also haul some small-size dump runs. free estimates via picture or in person.

"I would 100% recommend Cal’s Moving Help to anyone looking for a mover in the Portland metro area. Everything from scheduling the move to the delivery process was a breeze. I was able to work directly with the team through the whole process to make sure we were all on the same page. The communication with the team was prompt and efficient. The team was so careful and considerate when moving the items into the house, going above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. They turned what can be a very stressful day into an easy day for me."
Trace taking the time and care to wrap and protect each of these vintage arcade machines. Some great classics!
Our big rig parked outside the customers home looking oh so clean
Wrapped up and ready for loading!
Trace and Alan carrying in one of the many wrapped pieces. Here is a part of a sectional
This piece had long, delicate legs. Instead of carrying by hand, they opted to use our shoulder dolly. These help take stress off the piece and their backs!

"Miller and his colleagues were able to do a lot of things quickly. Along with everything else, they also grabbed some old furniture that I needed help moving to the curb. They took several cares to make sure nothing was damaged during the move, including wrapping the furniture, turning off all the lights, and packaging the picture frames."

"I had a client's rental that the tenants left a total mess! Rick came the next day and hauled everything away. He was professional, friendly, and did more than I could have hoped for! I've added Rick to my referral list for any future hauling projects and would recommend him to anyone."

Hauling questions, answered by experts

Choosing a junk disposal method begins with considering what kind of junk you’re getting rid of. If it’s hazardous waste, you’ll be more limited in your options and will either need to haul it to a dedicated disposal facility yourself or find a junk removal company that works with hazardous materials. If it’s general waste and mostly consists of small items, renting a dumpster is a great way to save money if you and some friends can move the junk into the dumpster yourselves. To save time and energy, though, hiring a junk hauler is the best option.

In general, you can’t put old electronics in a dumpster. Not only is it illegal to improperly dispose of electronic waste in some states, but many dumpster companies have banned this type of waste from their dumpsters. It’s better to look into responsible disposal methods and call a junk removal company to pick up your electronic waste or visit an office or store offering electronics recycling.

One of the best ways to reduce packaging waste is to purchase materials that are made using recycled materials. While these don’t eliminate waste, they do help provide uses for old packaging materials and prevent the need to collect more raw ingredients for continued manufacturing. Recycling those same products helps complete the cycle and reduces the need for new materials in the supply chain. You can also upcycle some packing materials, like cardboard and plastic, for use in crafts and organizational tools.

While tipping junk haulers is not required or expected, it is a greatly appreciated gesture for a job well done. Many junk removal companies state that tips are welcome but not mandatory. A good rule of thumb is to tip between 10% and 20% of the total bill, or a flat amount of $10 to $20 per worker. For exceptional service, a tip of $20 to $50 for the entire crew is also appropriate. It is often best to give cash directly to each worker at the end of the job.

Consider tipping if the crew:

  • Goes above and beyond your expectations.

  • Handles heavy, bulky items or navigates difficult spaces like tight hallways or stairs.

  • Works in inclement weather or deals with potentially hazardous materials.

  • Takes extra care to protect your home and property.

  • Accommodates a last-minute scheduling change.

You cannot put anything you want into a rented dumpster, as there are significant restrictions on certain items.

Generally allowed items include:

  • Household Junk: Furniture, old linens, carpets, toys, small appliances, and excess trash.

  • Construction & Yard Debris: Wood, yard debris, roofing materials, old finishes, and other construction waste.

Commonly prohibited items include:

  • Hazardous Materials: Toxic waste, medical waste, dangerous chemicals, items with lead paint, and asbestos.

  • Flammables: Gasoline, oil, and fuel.

  • Specific Banned Items: Paint cans, electronics, batteries, tires, refrigerators, and hot water tanks.

Because rules can vary, you should always check with your specific dumpster rental company for their guidelines if you are unsure about an item.
