Local Family owned & operated for over 40 years. Our customer satisfaction rating is over 98%, the best in the industry Additional contacts-Sally Bayer & Eugene Brierly.

"Stay away from this company at all costs. On 11/22/22 my mainline was clogged. This is not the first time, the last time I called a local plumber and they were able to clear it fairly quickly through the roof vent, unfortunately, that plumber was busy so I called Roto-Rooter. RR sent 3 techs out. They ran a snake about ten feet into the vent and got it stuck. I was present and I saw it suddenly and violently broke loose. They tried a couple more times and then said they can only do it if they install a "clean out". I, of course, said if I am going to install a clean out I am not going to go with the first person that tries to strong-arm me into it. I then called the other plumber back and they were able to get a team out to me. That team quickly found the broken joint (about 10 feet down the vent). Instead of trying to con me into a "$3k-$4K" like Roto-Rooter, they went to work, fixed the joint, and snaked the mainline, clearing it in about an hour. Roto-Rooter wants me to pay almost $500 for nothing but likely damaging my system, the other plumber only charged me just over $500 for fixing the damage and clearing the line successfully. BTW, the other plumber came back the next week and installed a clean-out for $600 flat."

"Powerlift came highly recommended from a colleague. However, our experience was much less than desirable. Steve came out and gave us a quote --he was very personable and polite. When the crews arrived and began their work, apparently there was some "extra" work that needed to be completed before they could continue. This extra work almost doubled the already extremely high price --from around $18K to $32K. We were told that the cracks in the bricks might not appear differently and that we would need to have them repaired but with the piers we should have no further issues. BTW -- the landscaping was a mess! Bushes were left unplanted and concrete piles were randomly distributed around our property --super messy! We did hire a mason to repair all of the cracks outside and a contractor made repairs in our sheetrock. Today, you cannot even tell that we spent 32K to get things fixed. We have cracks in our brick exterior and cracks in our sheetrock. Steve did come back (twice) and each time makes some excuse of what is happening but of course, it is not due to the work that they did. :( I am totally disappointed every single time I walk out of my front door. I would not recommend."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Trenching is not the same as boring. Boring uses a drill to make a tunnel for underground utilities, but trenching involves digging with an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. Boring is more precise and expensive, and it’s best for installing utilities underneath buildings, roads, and bodies of water. Trenching is simpler but can cause more disruption to landscaping and ecosystems.

Completion time ranges from days to weeks, contingent on project size, environmental conditions, and regulatory approvals.

Yes, an excavation company is the best option for land grading and yard leveling. General landscapers might be able to tackle these projects, but an excavation company will do a better job because they’re used to operating the necessary heavy machinery. Landscapers might opt to do the work manually, which takes much longer and could cost you more in labor fees. Finally, excavation companies will understand local regulations and know when you need permits to legalize the work, while a landscaper might not.

Hardscaping often requires preparation of the ground in the area where the feature is being installed. This can include digging, compacting, and leveling the soil, ensuring adequate drainage, and removing any existing plants. The extent of preparation needed will depend on the type and size of the hardscaping feature being installed.

Yes, you can excavate in the winter, but it might make the job harder. Frozen ground is harder to dig, and snow or ice can make the work site more hazardous. A contractor may need special equipment and techniques, such as ground-thawing methods, to break through frozen soil. Although winter excavation is possible, it may take longer and be more costly than excavating during warmer months.
