"He was able to accomplish a very long list of task in a single day. Went above and beyond building a parking pad and driveway to my shop. He also cleared a lot of my back yard using his forestry mulcher. (Extremely satisfying to watch)"

"This guy gave me a solid quote to remove some trees on my property and it was well worth the money I spent he did not try and chage the amount on the quote either once the work was done. I would highly recommend this business to anyone in need of his services. He was on time worked super hard and did not stop till the job was done even though it was 90+ degrees outside he just kept working through it. You can tell he cares and wants to make sure the job is done right. If your looking for someone to clear out some of your property trees bushes whatever this is the way to go. Thank you again Dallas!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Directional drilling is complex and requires training to use the advanced machinery. It can be challenging to monitor the position of the drill since there’s no direct line of sight. Directional drilling can also be more expensive with a cost of $10 to $30 per linear foot compared to $5 to $12 per linear foot for trenching.

Some two-in-one tools and machines do both jobs, and those could be the right solution for smaller residential projects. However, the phrase “use the right tool for the job” definitely applies to digging. For the best results, get two separate tools for your trenching and landscape edging projects or call a pro to take care of everything for you.

Professional installers often include a deep layer of crushed gravel under permeable pavers to allow more runoff to soak through into the soil below. Many installations will include multiple layers of gravel, with coarser aggregate at the base and finer aggregate that sits on top of that bottom layer. Above the gravel, you’ll often find coarse sand that helps reduce paver shifting over time. Some permeable paver designs include a water collection system set into the gravel layer to route runoff to a safe area for disposal.

Drilled wells have a pipe sticking up that’s covered in a plastic or metal casing. On the other hand, a dug well will look like a big hole in the ground and is more similar to what you’d see in a fantasy or Western movie. If you want to be sure, contact the city for documentation on your property’s construction and excavation history.

The physical constraints of hand-drilling a well limit the depth you can achieve. Manually digging with picks and shovels may only lead to shallow wells of up to 60 feet in depth. To reach greater depths, you need more specialized equipment. The diameter of your well and the tools you’re using will determine how far down you can dig.
