"I really appreciated that Terry helped me understand if it was better to repair or replace my furnace. We've used his company before and have built up trust with him. So, that made the decision easier to go ahead with the choice to replace our 35 year old furnace with a new Trane XB. Plus, they helped fix the draining issue we had with condensation when running the air conditioner."

"Last month the toilets, sinks, and bathtub deceived they did not want to drain. It was the weekend and was in a bind trying to find someone to come take a look at it on the same day and within a reasonable timeframe. I got in touch with Torch and had someone out within two hours or less. Gavin was EXCELLENT. He was very thorough and made sure everything was working perfectly before departing. I had previously went through my home warranty people and the guy only spent less than fifteen minutes accessing "fixing" the problem. Gavin was here for about an hour. 10/10 recommend this place."

"Went great! They spent most of the morning reviving the decrepit system and provided a prompt estimate on a new one. But at least in the meantime, they got some life back into the unit so it was working to best of it's ability. I was very pleased. They only charged me for the standard "tune-up.""

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump is one of the most common ways to get excess moisture out of your home, but it’s not the only way. If your home doesn't have a sump pump, other options to get excess water out of the basement include trash pumps, submersible pumps, service pumps, and hand-crank pumps. However, it’s worth calling a pro in to assess your situation and potentially install a sump pump for you.

Whether professional drainage installation is covered by insurance depends on your specific policy and the circumstances. In some cases, homeowners insurance may cover the cost if drainage problems pose a risk to your home's foundation or structural integrity. However, it's essential to review your insurance policy, understand the terms and conditions, and consult with your insurance provider to determine if your particular situation qualifies for coverage. Coverage may vary, so it's crucial to clarify the details with your insurer.

Whether to waterproof your basement from the interior or exterior depends on several factors, including your budget.

Exterior waterproofing is generally considered the superior method because it stops water at the source, preventing it from seeping into and damaging your basement walls. This approach offers the most protection, making it ideal if you use your basement for storage.

By contrast, interior waterproofing is often less expensive and requires less labor because the area is more accessible.

For maximum protection against water leakage and moisture, applying waterproofing measures to both the inside and outside is the best solution. However, if you must choose only one, stopping water from the outside is the most effective approach to preserve your foundation and prevent damage.

Ideally, your sump pump discharge should run down a natural downhill slope 10 to 20 feet away from your home’s foundation. However, if your property is naturally flat, that might not be an option. Instead, you may be able to discharge it into a neighborhood storm drain or a nearby creek or pond. If that’s not possible, consider burying it underground.

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.
