"The wind blew down our privacy fence off our deck. Wesley was prompt with a reasonable quote and an accurate timeliness of when he could do the work. I was extremely satisfied with the work. I recommend Wesley."

"It was as smooth as butter. Jon is a great contractor to deal with. His word was his bond and he completed everything he said he would. Work and material were on budget. I cannot say enough good things about this company. Will hire again on my next project."

"He did a very good job. The porch was cement and crumbling around the edges. I had him replaced with wooden deck on top and put railing up. It looks very good and is safe for my renters. Thank you very much for your work."

"Very organized and professional. The project manager, David, walked me through the insurance claim process. And when things were not done right, he immediately fix it. I couldn't have been more impressed with the entire process."

"After backing into my driveway gate (a few years ago) the gate needed repair. I thought it would just be heating up the bent bar and bending it back would suffice - but not in my skill set. I searched Angie's and came up with Fences Ruiz. Israel Ruiz responded to my request immediately, described the work needed as removing the bent upright and replacing it, using all the attached hardware. He came Friday with his equipment and within 2 hours had the rod replaced and the latch and other things all in good working order - better than they had been for years. He inspected the whole gate, and noticed another failing weld that he fixed. The price was $150 but I have to say that Israel Ruiz is not just a fence specialist - he is an artist. I would hire him again without any hesitation. You should do the same."

"Wanted to take a minute to say I would recommend Outdoor Creations of Oklahoma for any roofing needs you might have. Jake was effective in working with us and our insurance company in helping us understand the process, from the initial visit by the claims adjustor, all the way through the final roofing install. The roofing crew were very professional and efficient. They replaced an area of bad decking, kept a clean job site and finished in just 2 days. As an additional item, we elected to have them install solar power roof vents, which will help keep our attic cooler in the hot Oklahoma summers. Every time I go outside and look at my new roof, I’m glad I used Outdoor Creations. Good job!"

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Routine cleaning, sealing/staining, and inspection prolong deck life and appearance.

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.

Yes, you can attach a deck to a mobile home, but it’s important that the work be done correctly to avoid the potential for major damage to your home. Many building codes require that any additions to mobile homes—including decks—be either freestanding or have their own support structures. Getting permits may require submitting the home's original floor plan, the proposed floor plan, framing details, and more.

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

Space deck handrail posts four to six feet apart. If the posts are more than six feet apart, the railing will be less able to withstand lateral forces and is more susceptible to breaking. Additionally, railing posts that are more than six feet apart may not be up to code, and you may face fines and be required to reinstall the posts to bring them up to code.
