"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"These guys by far, hands down are pretty good people. Make sure your needs are meet and shoots to stun the costumer leaving really good results. I had my back porch and back wall done by them but I instead called them and replaced it all they had a really good deal on vinyl siding and tried to cut me deals left and right but since they were so outstanding I paid them the original price for their go get it attitude and the fire they have for the work they do. I never thought about siding the way I do now. Thank you RKO siding and construction"

"Haddon Roofing performed all services as advertised on the Angie’s List coupon. I knew there would be an upcharge since I had screens installed on the gutters, but I felt the price was quite reasonable. They said my roof was in good shape and didn’t try to sell me unneeded additional services. Impressed by their professionalism and integrity and would definitely recommend them."

"I had Home Renew replace 33 windows in my home. I had storm windows and old wood windows to remove. They did a quick professional job, caulked inside and out, and cleaned up the mess.I also had them install siding on my garage extension. Again, the work was completed quickly, professionally and mess cleaned up. High quality workers and materials. I was not sure about hiring them as they were so much cheaper than the big name window companies, but I am very pleased."

Siding questions, answered by experts

OSB is a common material used in sheathing, so when OSB prices go up, so does the cost of sheathing. Depending on the economy and supply chain, increased costs can reduce demand, though some homeowners proceed with their projects despite the elevated expenses.

Clapboard siding is traditionally made of wood, and is one of the most common types of wood siding in North America. When people talk about wood siding, they are usually talking about clapboard siding. However, not all wood siding is in the clapboard style: It can be tongue-and-groove, shake, and other designs. Also, clapboard siding can sometimes be made of different materials, like vinyl or fiber cement, so the terms are not interchangeable.

Oil-based stains are preferred over latex or water-based varieties because your home's cedar siding must constantly withstand the weather conditions in your location. These stains provide better penetration into the wood to more effectively protect it from UV rays and water infiltration. Oil-based stains are available in transparent, semi-transparent, opaque, or solid-color selections to achieve the look you desire.

You should restain or refinish your home's cedar siding every three to seven years to maintain its appearance and ensure maximum protection. The precise frequency depends on several factors, including your local climate, the siding's exposure to severe weather like direct sunlight, rain, and wind, the quality of the initial stain application, the type of stain used, and the condition of the wood.

Homeowners in harsh climates with high humidity and significant direct sunlight should plan on restaining every three years, while those in milder locations can wait up to seven years. For the longest-lasting protection in particularly harsh environments, consider using an opaque stain.

If you're looking for a lower-maintenance alternative, vinyl or aluminum siding are options to consider. Although their installation cost may be higher, they don't require as much upkeep over time, which can provide more value, especially in areas with excessive rainfall or high humidity.

Yes, vinyl siding can be installed over existing materials in some cases, assuming the underlying structure is sound and the installation will not cause moisture issues.
