"I can?t tell a difference in my energy bill. It is still extremely hot in the upstairs. After paying over $8,000 to have spray insulation done, I thought I would notice a significant change in temperature."

"My installer was very knowledgeable and professional. His team promptly installed the insulation and baffles, as I requested, and tried to clean up afterward. I was already sweeping the garage, so I declined. The cost was exactly as quoted. Would be nice if they made it an option to pay online. (Maybe thatâ s possible now.) There was an immediate improvement in the comfort in the home. I would highly recommend this company."

"A lot of people recommended that we just do blown insulation because spray was expensive. After receiving many quotes from a variety of companies I chose Alpa Omega Insulation. The owner came out and was very honest and personable and his quote was reasonable compared to the other companies. During the work I had no problems contacting him whether it was via text or phone call, he always answered and returned my phone calls. During any construction you run into problems that push back the next step and I called him several times to reschedule due to last minute issues and he was always pleasant and professional and never had an issue. I can not say enough highly praised words for this company! I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs any insulation work done!"

"Within days of contacting Raam with RDA Remodeling in Tulsa, OK, regarding extensive remodeling of our guest and master bathrooms, we received a detailed estimate based on our Statement of Work and physical walk throughs. The work estimate and detail was accurate and Raam quickly turned around requested changes. The cost estimate was comparable to other estimates we received. The walk through was thorough and Raam provided many design and repair suggestions that we had not thought of. Raam has a high level of knowledge in bathroom design and remodeling. Within the week the RDA Remodeling team started the demolition. The team tarps all adjoining areas and furniture and covers the major pathways with wide, heavy duty paper. They are very tidy with the work and ensure everything is cleaned up at the end of the day. The demolition work was completed as scheduled and all debris was cleaned up and hauled away as expected. In addition to the standard demolition, we had mold in the bathroom wall which RDA cleaned out and remediated. The demolition included removing lights, toilets, tile, shower bulkhead, vanity, existing shower fixtures, shower enclosure, and tub surround in master and guest baths. This work was performed at a high level. The team went on to complete the work required to remodel the two bathrooms; including, framing showers and tub, upgrading old plumbing to PEX, tiling floors, tiling showers, tiling walls, tiling tub surround, adding lighting, updating electrical sockets, removing wall paper and painting, replacing drywall, installing exhausting fans, installing sinks, installing shower kits and pans, installing toilets, installing folding shower seats, building a pony wall and installing a barn door. The RDA team was on time every day and worked the full day every day. The RDA project manager and foreman were knowledgeable and efficiently and effectively lead their team to perform quality work. The work was scheduled progressively with no discernable gaps or lags. We are super happy with the quality of our bathroom remodel and recommend RDA Remodeling to you for yours."

"Better than expected! Ended up replacing all windows, looks so much better, quieter in house! French doors that we didn't use were replaced with nice picture windows. Our heat and air bills will tell over time about insulation and sealing of units. Can already feel less west sun heat coming through windows."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

Wall anchors are suitable for drywall and plaster walls, which are common in most homes. However, different wall materials may require specialized anchors. For concrete or masonry walls, you'd typically use concrete anchors. When dealing with other wall types, such as brick or tile, specific anchors designed for those materials may be necessary. Always consult with a hardware specialist or check the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure you select the appropriate anchors for your specific wall type.

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

Plaster that sags or bulges, shows extensive deep cracks, or is crumbling from water damage or simply time may need replacement. Plaster walls can look a little “worn” for a long time before they need replacing. The only real way to know if it needs a replacement is to hire a professional to assess the condition of the plaster.

While a normal moisture level for drywall is between 5% and 12%, replacement is recommended if you get consistent readings above 17%. At this level, the drywall is likely too compromised by extensive moisture damage to be considered safe. You can replace either the entire sheet or just the affected section. If you are unsure after a visual inspection, it is best to have a contractor or water restoration provider use a professional moisture meter to get an accurate reading.
