"The plumbers were knowledgeable, quick to get our problem resolved. We had a slab leak and they were very professional. I liked that they covered our furniture and were very respectful of our home. They were understanding about what we were going through (days with no hot water). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!"

"RUN THE OTHER WAY - DO NOT HAVE THIS PERSON DO ANY WORK ON YOUR HOME!!!!!!! I did not believe the very negative review posted in 2022 but should have. My experience was exactly the same. I paid for work that was either not done or done wrong (and had to pay someone else to correct). I paid for flooring that was never ordered (confirmed with flooring company that it was never ordered or paid for) and had to pay for again. I have had plumbers in to fix plumbing work I paid for (toilets not sealed, hot and cold water mis-connected). The electrical and gas connections for kitchen appliances were not as per appliance specs (shared with Jeff Withrow prior) and I had to pay another plumber and electrician to correct. A shower enclosure in a bathroom that was removed without discussing with me (only the flooring was to be replaced so the enclosure did not need to be removed). When I asked "why", there were multiple excuses (including saying I asked for it to be replaced). The enclosure was put back in; however, not correctly so I the shower door does not fit. Another bath was completely remodeled and (1) toilet paper holder cut-out in tile is oriented wrong direction, (2) toilet paper holder cannot be installed as there is no wood for screws and cannot secure into tile, (3) shower door cannot be installed as will not swing in or out due to toilet seat and shower head placement. Trim around tile in two separate bathroom missing in areas. I have had two of his subcontractors show up at my home asking for money as Jeff told them I did not pay him for work done. I assisted them by sharing proof of payment to their attorney. Asked Jeff multiple times for names and license information for his subcontractors - he never shared that with me. Had to ask weekly for detailed invoices. Met in person several times to reconcile invoices. Jeff Withrow is a con artist. He approached me as "Jeff Withrow" contractor and I found out he had been licensed as "Glenn's Tile" and current licensed as "Mid-America Tile, Marble and Granite LLC". Unfortunately, the AR Contractor Licensing Board does not tie contractor name to company (as other professional licensing boards do). The company is not doing the work - the individual is and the public needs to know about the individual. If Jeff Withrow's name was tied to his company you would know to RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION. He has absolutely no integrity. Happy for those who post stellar reviews - you were fortunate. I overpaid for everything and ended up paying twice for many things. Project ended up costing me more than $150K. He should be banned for life by the AR Contractor Licensing Board."

The average cost to install a new water heater is around $1,300, but you can expect to pay between $875 and $1,750, depending on the kind of water heater, the size of the unit, and the professional chosen to complete the work. Tankless water heaters can push your price higher, as installation is more complicated, with prices as high as $3,500. The location and accessibility of your water heater will play a role in the project cost, as those sitting in tight spaces like a crawl space will drive up your labor costs.
Yes, most states require plumbers to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
It usually takes a professional water heater installer between two and three hours to remove an existing water heater and install a new tank heater. However, it could take four to five hours if they have to work in a small utility closet or another tight area, like a crawl space. Tankless water heaters have a more complicated installation process, so they will take a bit longer. Additionally, a gas water heater requires a connection to a gas line, and that alone can add about an hour to the installation timeline compared to installing an electric water heater.
It is very difficult and dangerous to install your own water heater, so we strongly recommend against tackling this as a DIY project. Not only will you need to wire your water heater, but you’ll also need to connect plumbing to the intake and outlet. Sweating copper pipes and connecting wiring properly are skills most DIYers don’t have, and even if you do feel confident you can do it, working with water and electricity always leaves the potential for electrocution. Hiring a local water heater installer is well worth the investment.
The average cost to hire a plumber is around $100 an hour but can vary between $45 and $200 an hour depending on the plumber’s experience and the repair that you need. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays, and emergency plumber rates average $150 per hour, in addition to a flat-rate trip fee of $100 to $350.
