"I recommend Carlton highly if you need any help with your countertops. We wanted an unused curved seating area removed on our kitchen counter to make the space more accessible. I called several countertop companies before I knew about Carlton and none returned my calls. I feel fortunate that I found Carlton because of his expertise at modifying and restoring stone, and he handles these custom jobs that countertop companies won’t touch. He replied to my initial inquiry within hours, came out to see the space first, and was able to work our job into his schedule in just a few days. He’s professional and manages the job while on-site very well. And he’s just a nice guy. Don’t hesitate to reach out to Carlton – you’ll be very happy with the results."

"I can t say enough about the owner, Shad. I had marble floors that were scratched, cracked and pitted. Shad worked endless hours on our floors to make them look brand new. I am shocked at the difference. Shad is all about making the customer happy , he is detailed oriented and takes pride in his work. Customer service is excellent. I highly recommend this company for restoration of flooring, ceramic, and stone/ granite countertops. I was a tough customer and Shad nailed every component of this job. So happy!! Great company. Thank you Shad !! Highly recommend. I can t say enough!!"

"Mr. Thompson rebuilt the steps to code including pitching the steps so that water drained away from my foundation. He used new brick and built several footers as well as using the flip-side of my existing stone pads that saved me approximately $900. I felt the price while higher than I anticipated was fair as another contractor was going to charge up to $2200 for just a repair that would not have solved the problem."

"I have used this company before and they have always done a through job especially with pre-treating pet stains.  On this occasion a pet stain remained on the carpet.  Also the technician bumped the wall coming down the stairs as he carried his machine and took a small nick out of the drywall.  I was standing in the hall when it happened.
The company called a few days later to check if the work was satisfactory.  When I reported these two problems the same technician was scheduled to return on 4/29/15 to treat and remove the stain and look at the drywall area.
He worked on the stain but it is still visible.  He looked at the drywall and didn't think he had done that while cleaning the steps.  I agreed and said it was done as he carried the machine down the stairs.  Nothing was done about the drywall.
I first used Downey Clean several months ago with a discount from Angie's List.  That first technician was fantastic!  The process seemed much more through than that of the technician who has come since.   I wish I had the name of the technician who came initially I would request him again.

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

Mitered edge countertops are usually 2 to 2.5 inches thick. The thickness accounts for the 45-degree angle required to form a seamless corner, resulting in a dramatic and thick-edged appearance.

Yes, a granite countertop can be cut in place. However, learning how to cut a granite countertop in place is a lot trickier than cutting granite in an open, well-ventilated space. You’ll also need to protect everything in the surrounding area (like your kitchen cabinets and appliances), but even that might not be enough to prevent dust from getting stuck in tight spots. If you absolutely must cut a granite countertop in place, consider hiring a pro to get the job done in the cleanest and safest way possible.

Yes, marble countertops are fairly soft and can scratch easily, especially compared to rival materials. However, most marble scratches are easy to repair, thanks to marble polish and repair kits. Deep scratches will require a professional.

Stone can last anywhere from 15 to 100 years before it needs to be restored. You should clean your stone flooring or countertops regularly using cleaners designed for stone surfaces. Stay on top of vacuuming to prevent scratches from deteriorating stone faster, deep clean your stone surfaces using a pH-neutral cleaning solution at least once a year, and reseal the stone every one to five years, depending on foot traffic or usage.

Marble is a porous natural stone that needs sealant to minimize staining. Leaving this type of countertop material sealant-free means any liquids left on the surface will quickly absorb into the stone, discoloring it and dulling the sheen. Dark or acidic liquids, like red wine, coffee, and lemon, are the worst culprits.
