Customers say: Quick response

"Jason took our stairs to the basement that were a tiny spiral mid evil type stair case and made them so amazing. He also took out 7 layers of flooring in our kitchen and laid new real wood to match our current wood floor. He also drove out of his way to pick up our new granite. He came back a couple years later and redid our entire front porch and did some electrical and other odd and end jobs. He is an honest man and Works very hard."

"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

"Finding a good, reliable contractor is a bit of a crap shoot especially when you’re looking at a major home renovation and investing a lot of money in to that project. Many contractors get a reputation of being unreliable, shows up late if at all on the dates & time promised, poor communication, only work a couple hours then leave the project and worst of all don’t do take pride in their work and the quality is not what you paid for. You can do your due diligence by check references; BBB complaints; state licensing; State AG’s office of complaints; read customer comments on review sites and then pick a few to interview. Still, it’s no guarantee you’re going to get a “good one”. You hire them then hold your breath. We just went thought all of this for a total kitchen remodel (floor up). After going through all of this we found a gem in American Made Contractors and Scott Padgett. Our projected started 7 months ago with research and after we selected Scott, his communication MONTHS before the project started was superb. He was a resource we could use as we went through the planning stages and selection process. We probably talk to him 2 times a week during this and then almost daily as our demo day approached. He and his hand selected crew showed up when promised (for various phased), worked all day, cleaned up before leaving, found and fixed things that were discovered, give critical feedback on decisions during the project and took immense pride in his craftsmanship. Scott is a master carpenter and been at this for 37 years and it showed. He brought up additional ideas as the project progressed and incorporated them in to our kitchen. Just as important my wife was completely comfortable with everyone that came to the house. Our new kitchen is beautiful! Scott does any kind of home renovation. If it’s a bathroom, kitchen, home addition, room alteration etc… he’s done it. If you’re looking for someone you can trust with your project, trust with your hard earned money and trust the project will be done right, look no further. Finally, our new kitchen is beautiful!"

"Loay Jabbar provided the information I needed quickly and clearly. I immediately signed up for full coverages for our two homes because of the discounts offered and because of the quality of service that Loay is saying and promising Choice Home Warranty provides to its customers. I have bad experiences with other home warranty companies so I am hoping I found the best company that would deliver the best service."

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

Modular homes can go up or down in value depending on a few factors. In areas where real estate is appreciating, the value of modular homes is likely to increase, and vice versa. Additionally, the value of modular homes depends partially on the area. In cities where every other home is stick-built, modular homes might be considered a functional obsolescence, in which case they could be less desirable and go down in value. In either case, though, modular homes can still be a good investment, especially since they provide housing at a lower upfront cost.

Yes, a home builder or contractor should have the proper licensing and insurance. Licensing requirements vary by state and municipality, but most states mandate that a builder holds at least a general contractor’s license. For specialized work such as plumbing, electrical, roofing, or sewage systems, individual licenses may be required, in which case the builder may subcontract the work. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to review your local guidelines and confirm a builder's credentials. As you browse professionals, you can also look for the “Angi Certified” badge. This indicates the business meets our certification standards, which include passing a criminal background check, holding applicable state and local licenses, and maintaining an average rating of 3.0 or better.

A carriage house is a freestanding building, while a townhouse is connected to other units. A townhouse is a full single-family home and typically shares a parcel of land with other connected homes. A carriage house is rarely used as the sole single-family home on a property and is most often an additional building sharing property with a traditional single-family home.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

The early stages of building a house are harder than the later stages; laying the foundation and framing the house are two of the most challenging steps. However, it varies for everyone. Some people have difficulty installing HVAC, plumbing, and electricity, while others find it harder to plan the house and secure the necessary permits.
