"This company is very pushy to get you to sign up. After that, it is up to you to make all contact with them. After about 3 weeks I had to reach out to them to schedule. We had wanted all 3 things done at the same time since we have dogs and wanted to get it done at the same time. When they did come out, they did not have the equipment to treat for army worms. Then we had to reschedule for that at a later date. I emailed the company on Oct 18th and explained I was not seeing any new growth in the bare spots. I even loosened the soil with a garden rack the day before they reseeded. They replied to the email and said they would open a free service call ticket to evaluate the reseeding. Guess what...haven't heard a word from them 3 weeks later!"

If you plan on laying new grass seed, try to wait eight weeks before stepping on it. You might need to wait an entire season to drive your car across the driveway. Sod establishes itself in the ground in about two weeks.

At its core, soil pH is a measure of how many hydrogen ions are present in your soil. In highly acidic soil (low pH), plant growth is difficult due to reduced microbial availability in the dirt.

In highly alkaline soil, plants may struggle to grow due to iron deficiencies. In either case, a lack of balance deprives grass or plants of some key nutrients they need to grow.

A pH reading of 6 to 7.5 is ideal for most plants. Slight acidity is, generally speaking, less of an issue than slight alkalinity. Many plants can still thrive in slightly acidic soil.

If you use a starter fertilizer designed for this purpose, you can overseed and fertilize at the same time. If you opt to use a fertilizer for established grass or one with a weed control component, it's best to wait at least four to eight weeks after seed application to allow the new grass to take hold and establish itself. 

Start your search for a good lawn care company by finding some landscapers in your area; it might be a good idea to research companies that already work on your block, as they’re more likely to be able to fit you into their schedules, given your proximity. A quick search online may recommend that you give your dog apple cider vinegar to help decrease the pH level of your dog’s urine. This method won’t help your yard, though. Most turf grasses thrive on slightly acidic soil, so apple cider vinegar won’t make much of a difference. 

The main cause of grass death by dog urine isn’t the pH level anyway—it’s usually the excessive amount of nitrogen that kills your grass.
