MAXALEA INC

Very disappointed with our patio and landscaping. The patio was initially installed incorrectly (2 inches higher than the threshold of the door) and they moved it down but apparently without removing enough material underneath so the slope is inadequate and water has started to come into the basement. Additionally, bluestone is chipping and flaking significantly and is very ugly and unsafe for children. The elevation of the landscaping actually dips back down to the perimeter of the house which is causing more water to come into a different part of the basement. Six of the 19 plants on the hedge were planted incorrectly and also in too much shade to survive and died almost immediately. And the lawn is bumpy, not at all smooth where they planted the grass. Overall just a terrible job. We let them know about the issues without success.

We've used them several times over the years. They do a good job.

So far so good. Grass is green and growing.

Lost contact with work because it was done whencompany rep was out of town and not here to stay on top of it...he got everything straight but better if it had been done when he was in town.

I used them last week, and I have a contract so they treat it in the spring and fall.

They were very good.

We've used Maxalea for the last three years for a spring and fall cleanup. This project was our spring cleaning. We also have them for monthly lawn service (not cutting, but fertilizing and other treatments). In the past we've also had them replace trees and do other work as needed.
We have a small but richly designed and planted garden, and we don't trust landscapers who don't know their plants. We have a variety of specimen trees, including Japanese maples, shaped beds, rock walls, and a water feature. Vance, the estimator we work with, is a horticulturalist and knows his stuff. The crews are very good too; courteous, quick, clean, and skilled.

A crew came out for the service. Scheduling was fairly easy. The pricing was competitive and I was pleased the outcome.

They are excellent. They do a fantastic job, but they are very expensive. I don't pay the bill, but I just happened to know that they are expensive. The company is great. The service is fantastic. I don't really have to call them, but just call them in between the visits then they come right out and do it. They do a very professional job. If I need anything, then I can reschedule the visits.

Maxalea did an excellent job; very professional. The supervisor was very attentive to details and the staff was hard working a courteous.

It went very well. They provided multiple priced options for us to review. The work was done well and they they threw in mulch at no charge to finish the area off.

so much better, more than expected. Designer came as promised, reviewed yard, created planting plan as requested for empty side of the house, pruned lilac, hydrangeo, removed small tree, trimmed overgrown yew in front, , gave me planting list, did everything as promised. An amazing transformation.

With a Groupon, I purchased 6 man hours of work for $300 from Maxalea. The two men arrived in my driveway at 9 AM (they thought they arrived in the neighborhood at 8:30 and they did have a difficult time bringing their large truck up the driveway) and left at 11:15. They (Michael and Carlos) worked very hard, constantly, quickly, and efficiently, were extremely professional and courteous, gave good advice, did more than they anticipated doing. It was a delight to work with them!

The first visit by the company for the maintenance work was rushed and nothing was sprayed that we were told would be sprayed on the first visit (we had some plants with diseases in need of immediate care). We complained and the sales rep became intolerable. After several calls, they came back out to spray, but never completed their end of the contract. We decided to not use them for the larger project in new landscaping since we were treated so poorly by them. It was obvious we were not considered an important customer despite our patience to try and work out things.

The price is a little high. They get the work done very quickly. They are very courteous when they are their working. They always show up on time to do the work. They cleaned up everything when they were done.

They do a very nice job overall, but cut back some perennials much too far. Also, they came a day ahead of schedule without notice.

Their price for maintenance seems quite reasonable, and has not gone up dramatically. They also occasionally will do small "extra" chores for free, such as spraying an infected tree or transplanting a poorly-located shrub. The top guys , Mike McWilliams and the project managers, are quite good about coming out to look at problems, i.e. what is wrong with that tree? Mike also is good about researching and recommending specific cultivars, though occasionally, it can take several weeks for him to submit a bid. We've had several crews over the years. Most have been terrific. There was one exception that tended to be a bit sloppy and leave work undone. But when we complained, they were replaced.

Poor. They used a shortcut for one of the drain pipes that ultimately caused flooding in our basement. In addition, they used the wrong pipe. They should have used PVC, but instead used a much flimsier type. Instead of running the second pipe away from our house, they simply ran it along the front of the house and dumped it into an existing, and very old, Terra cotta pipe. This held up until we replaced the down pipe that fed this existing pipe. Once this was done the Terra cotta pipe was overloaded and the shortcut revealed by a large amount of rainwater flooding our basement. We asked them for a bid on repairing their work and replacing the Terra cotta that reflected a benefit to us for the trouble they caused. They promised this in seven business days. We also sought other bids. By the time Maxalea's had arrived (over a week late) the job had been completed very satisfactorily by another company for a price that was roughly half the price that Maxalea proposed.

They come, they go, the work gets done...generally no complaints. Great service, but pricey, for the working person who does not want to devote weekends to yard work. Nothing's ever been stolen and the dogs have never been let out in the street. Most of the workers are spanish speaking; most of the supervisors are English speaking.

THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS VERY POOR. THE PLANTS WERE NOT THE CORRECT SIZE AT ALL, THE WORKMANSHIP WAS POOR AND HAD TO BE REDONE SEVERAL TIMES, THEY DID NOT MARK THE PROPERTY FOR ELECTRIC LINES AND WOUND UP HITTING ONE, CAUSING $4,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO ELECTRONICS.
