"Not every custom builder can custom build – Winthrop Place Inc is a true exception It was a real pleasure to work with Michael and his crew. I already had a fully developed floor plan of what I wanted to build. We went over that in great detail made necessary adjustments and agreed on a start date. Having already build two houses from scratch I had no expectations of getting this basement completed below 4-5 months, so when Michael said he would do it in two - I honestly didn't believe him. I can only say how wrong I was, and how amazed I am at the level of his attention to details. My style is modern contemporary and I needed some custom work which I wasn't sure it could be done. Michael worked with me every step of the way and found resources who would be able to pull it off and the final product was exactly how I had envisioned it. Here's a list of things he pulled off - all which were important to me- 1. Create a floating table that straddles two basement support poles 12.5' apart - the material used was quartz and he had to support all 1100 lbs of it (42 sq ft) without any visible base or legs 2. Wall mount a concrete sink weighing over 300 lbs 3. Wall mounted large electric fireplace 4. Vinyl tile flooring - avoiding any type of visible pattern 5. Paint a 70' long wall to look like concrete 6. Vertically mount 4' x 2' pieces of giant ceramic tile on the riser of my bar Most custom builders wouldn't get past the first item on the list, Michael made it work within a very reasonable budget. "The project went incredibly well. The focus was a quality, appropriate renovation/addition on a 1930's federal house in Ann Arbor. An architect was hired to design an appropriate renewal and replacement inside and out. It was important that the builder could handle the scale and detail. We couldn't be happier with the results. In retrospect I am sure that there is no way that we could have renovated to this standard at this cost with any other builder. Pete was the perfect choice for our project. I am veryspecific about the level of quality and detail that I expect and Pete meets my requirements every time. "When jobs go smoothly, any company can shine. But what truly separates out high quality organizations is how they respond when things don't go as planned. Rock Roofing was absolutely rock solid re-roofing a nearly 100 year old detached garage. Up front, Beau was an exceptional communicator, and very responsive to my concerns and questions -- a big contrast from the other more well known roofers in the area, who seemed rather put out to even consider my small job. In their bid, Rock was the only one who committed up front to all necessary wood repair. When the old rubber roof (and many layers of old roofing and rotten old tongue-and-groove sheathing) was removed, the condition of the rafters was quite a bit worse even than expected. In my experience, most contractors and especially their crew would complain and blame at this point. Rock just brought in more lumber, additional crew to help, and proceeded to reconstruct the roofing support until it was solid. The final roof and front overhang look beautiful, Beau was in constant touch, and visited after the job was finished to make sure I was happy with everything. A solid, family-owned company committed to customer satisfaction. Maybe not as well known as some of the other outfits, but on the rise, and working hard for it!"
