"The crew arrived on time and began working to cut down two large Maple trees on my property. They worked quickly and efficiently. Cleaned up the wood chips and left the yard in great shape. I have used this company in the past and will do so in the future if needed. Highly recommend MS Tree Service."

"I was very impressed at the skill of the workers, they had a tough job removing 9 large trees that were all along a driveway sandwiched between my house and my neighbors house, they barely had enough room to work but they pulled it off flawlessly. they lifted the trees over my house with the crane after cutting them it was something to watch, very professional."

"Ray Troyer is just AMAZING! His crew is fabulous! Everyone was polite, professional, and took care to not damage the yard or house. They cleaned everything up and were careful to make sure there were no dangerous branches hanging. They took down 5 trees and cut-up two separate trees that had already fallen in TWO HOURS! I still can't believe how fast and efficient they worked! Also, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Ray is the brother-in-law to Ben Miller, (Trucoat Painting) who painted my house and also did a GREAT job! I would highly recommend both! Very professional and very nice! I will be using them again. Many thanks Ray!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

For Bradford pears, damage from storms is common, and if the trunk splits, it can pose a danger to people and surrounding structures. The best thing to do in that instance is to have the tree removed. If there’s only minor damage to the branches, pruning away the damaged parts is the first order of business. You may also want to consult a professional arborist to make sure the tree is healthy.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

Ensures complete removal and mitigates risks of underground root damage.

When a palm tree no longer produces new fronds and old fronds start turning yellow-brown, that’s a sign the tree is dying. However, transplanted palm trees can show these signs for the first several months as they re-establish themselves. It’s best to keep watering and not give up on the palm tree until a couple of seasons have passed and you’re sure it’s not coming back to life.

There are a few things you should look for in a stump removal company to make sure you’ll be satisfied with the results:

  • Proper business licensing and insurance

  • History of positive reviews

  • Good rating with the Better Business Bureau

We also recommend asking any company you’re considering the following questions to help find the best value:

  • Will you remove the roots as well as the stump?

  • Will you haul away wood chips or large portions of the stump?

  • What method will you use to remove the stump?
