"The service was really bad. On the move in day., they left our piano under the sun for hours when the temperature was 85 degrees because they didn't assign enough movers to the job. They broke a heirloom desk lamp and damaged 10 plus other stuffs during the move. I paid extra $500 for extra coverage insurance and submitted claim on time. They never replied to me in written. A staff called me a couple of times saying i would receive something via email, guess what, I never did. Today is the settlement deadline, they still didn't reply. Do NOT use this company! Updated 1/05/2020 Resolution agreement was settled."

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

When loading a moving truck, the general rule is to load the heaviest and largest items first to create a stable base at the front of the truck, which helps balance the weight. You can start with large furniture like sofas, beds, mattresses, and tables to form a solid foundation, or begin by placing your heaviest boxes against the truck's walls to create a base layer. After the base is set, continue loading other large items like appliances and square furniture. Lighter and smaller objects, including most of your boxes, should be loaded last. They can be packed into gaps, around, and on top of the heavier items to maximize space. Following this order makes unloading easier and helps prevent damage to your belongings.

Plastic bins are excellent alternatives to moving boxes. They’re more durable than the traditional cardboard. Have any unused suitcases? Those can make for great storage solutions for your long-term needs. Avoid plastic bags or anything that doesn’t allow for breathability.

To prepare for moving a piano, start by documenting its current condition with photos in case of any damage during the move. Secure the piano's lid and wrap the instrument, including its keys and pedals, with bubble wrap and moving blankets for protection. Note that if you have hired professional piano movers, they may handle this step for you.

Next, prepare the space. Measure any tight spaces or doorways to ensure the piano will fit through. Clear a wide path from the piano's location to the exterior door, removing any furniture or obstacles. It is also helpful to prop open doors to make the exit easier.

On moving day, ensure the moving truck can park as close to the exit as possible. For safety, keep children and pets away from the moving area to prevent accidents or distractions.

No, homeowners insurance does not typically cover moving expenses. Homeowners insurance provides coverage and pay-outs if you experience damage to the home you currently live in. You’ll need to save separately for moving expenses like hiring movers, renting a tow truck, or shipping your belongings.

Some companies offer supplies like dollies and furniture pads for an additional fee. Confirm availability when renting.
