"Nick walked my property with me and gave advice on the health of the trees. He identified trees that were at risk of causing damage. He provided a couple options for me to choose from with estimates. Communication was responsive and he answered all my questions. The team showed up as scheduled and were very efficient as they worked. Taproot will be the first company I call next time I need tree service."

"Chris was excellent! I highly recommend. We had a problem with our front door, literally for years. It continued to get worse and worse until it became a real problem. Chris and I diagnosed the problem, and Chris fixed it beautifully. It is such a pleasure to have our door work as it did when it was installed. He was prompt and went above and beyond. I will definbitely utilize Chris in the future"

My name is Leonard and I work for a big tree company during the week. In my off time I like to pick up tree work at affordable qoutes for homeowners. I am a Foreman at my main job and have been doing professional tree work for 3 years. I am straight forward about things and always happy to help out and see trees transform with more life or open an area up to allow for other things to be placed in that space

"I had the crew remove a large tree from my front yard today. They were above and beyond any expectations I had for this job ! I would highly recommend them to do any tree service. They were efficient, professional and I have never had anyone show so much concern about clean up after the job was done . They all showed great work ethics . I just cannot express how impressed I was with the entire experience with this company"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone. Your tree removal company should pull the permit for you and include the permit fee in your total.

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.

Rock salt or Epsom salt can damage and kill tree roots over several weeks and can even assist in removing the tree's stump. However, you need to drill holes or cut into the stump and surface tree roots to inject them properly with the salt. Repeat the process every two weeks until the roots visibly rot away.

It is possible to burn out a tree stump if it is dried out and in an area of your property with a large buffer. Drill holes in the stump and dig around the base so it burns more easily. Then, build a small campfire on top using kindling and firewood. You’ll need enough to keep the fire going for many hours to completely burn out the stump, especially if it’s large.

Monitor the fire closely to ensure it doesn’t spread, and have a hose on hand if it starts to get out of control. When the fire is out, break apart the burned stump and dig out what’s left of it.

If this sounds like a good option, learn more about how to burn a tree stump before attempting it, as it does come with risks.

It is good to spray water on a Christmas tree to help keep the needles hydrated. Spraying a Christmas tree with water prevents dryness, stops needles from falling off, and reduces the risk of fire.
