"We recently commissioned Alternative Home Repair to do a full remodel of our outdated 1950s bathroom-from demo to reconstruction. During the demolition, Johnâ s team found mold behind the shower walls. They advised us of the situation, and instead of covering it back up, they removed all harmful mold before proceeding. John was accommodating, working with us so we had either a shower or tub to use during the remodel. That was important to us. John and his crew were very easy to work with. They were always on time and accommodating. We are very pleased with the final results. The custom glass shower door is awesomeâ better than we expected."

I know how busy they are and I fully expected to wait until they had time in their schedule for this repair. Todd did an excellent job fixing the gaping hole in record time! These guys were awesome! Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.

Glass tiles are among the most difficult to install. This is because their transparency makes the adhesive visible, and any imperfections on the opposite side are also likely to be visible. Glass tiles also must be handled carefully during installation, as they are prone to scratching. For these reasons, glass tiles often require professional installation to get the most out of their beauty and unique look.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.
