"They did a great job and were very professional.  The old insulation was put in a dumpster and most of it stayed in it.  Was very pleased with their work.

Toledo Basement Repair is proud to be a locally owned and operated business that has been serving the community since 1999. As long as there have been basements, there's been basement water problems. Water will find it's way into any basement through cracks in the walls or flooring, through wall and flooring joints, through open vents and through ill-fitting doors and windows. Concrete is a porous material and water will seep through it as water vapor, making basements and crawl spaces a constant source of humidity and dampness.\nChronic basement leakage can be a serious problem that can destroy furnishings and appliances, decrease property value, and can cause Black Mold that can have devastating effects on your family's health.\n\nDoes your basement have leaks when it rains? Call Toledo Basement Repair for expert dry basement solutions. Not in Toledo? Toledo Basement Repair is now offering services to Monroe, Michigan and other parts of Southeast Michigan!

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is possible to have too much insulation, which can have detrimental effects. While more insulation might seem better for energy efficiency, a home needs to "breathe" or ventilate to release moisture that accumulates inside. Over-insulating can seal a house too tightly, trapping water vapor and leading to several problems, including mold, mildew, and condensation. Homes in warm, humid climates are particularly susceptible to mold, while those in colder climates can experience condensation from temperature fluctuations. Additionally, adding more insulation than the recommended amount for your climate may not provide recoverable energy savings. To avoid these issues, consult a professional insulation contractor who can determine the optimal amount of insulation for your home.

Vapor barriers in attics are a bit outdated and most areas no longer recommend them for attic spaces. For vented attics, the best method is usually to install drywall and cover it with latex paint before attaching insulation fiberglass, cellulose, or foam insulation. When renovating an attic to use as a living space, a contractor can guide you on the best way to cover insulation.

To cover your HVAC ducts and air vents during construction, use plastic sheets or drop cloths secured with painter's tape. Be sure to cover all supply vents on your floors and walls, as well as the larger HVAC return vent, which is typically on the ceiling. While canvas drop cloths can also be used, they may not catch all the fine dust. It is crucial to shut off your HVAC system or at least the zone where construction is happening. Running the system with vents sealed can put significant strain on the blower motor and air handler. For additional dust containment, you can also hang plastic sheets over doorways to separate the construction area from the rest of your home.

Mold can grow on garage ceiling insulation, which is why it’s important to install a vapor barrier behind the insulation and keep the space cooled and heated as you would your living area. Doing so will more or less eliminate the risk of mold growing on your garage ceiling insulation. You can also install a self-draining dehumidifier to help remove moisture, or opt for a foam board insulation or spray foam insulation that won’t harbor moisture and mold.

You won’t find anything inside a cupola on a house because it’s hollow (think of an upside-down cup), allowing air to ventilate out of a roof via vents and light to come in via windows. They also usually have a base, vents around the middle (usually louvers), and a pointed cap at the top.
