"They were professional and quick. It was a bit pricey in my opinion but most plumbing usually is. We had a clogged drain and they did a mechanical snake from the roof down the vent pipe for $450. They also threw in a 30 day warranty in case the snake didn't fully clear the block, which is reassuring. However, they were confident that the block was resolved. Toilets and shower are draining so it's looking like it worked. Would hire again."

"I hired D Fisher Services because I thought my toilet was leaking at the base. It turned out that was not the case, but I decided to get a new floor installed in the bathroom. The price I paid was a little high for the small space, but I do not mind for a job well done. The first problem occurred when the project had to be rescheduled by the provider because he was called for another job. This happened on the morning of the original date after I had already scheduled a day off work for which I lost wages. The second problem is that we had discussed that the old flooring would be removed before placing the new flooring. This was not done. He placed the new flooring over top of the old. When the project was finished and I went to inspect there were minor things that I had to ask them to do such as finishing the caulking, placing the caps on the toilet floor bolts and rehanging the door on the hinges. They did not clean up after themselves properly and left mud on the carpet outside of the bathroom. The finished project looks nice but I know that it could have been done better. I expected a professionally done job. I will not hire this company again."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Snaking a toilet is similar to clearing sinks and bathtubs, but there are unique circumstances where you’d have to drain, disassemble, and remove the toilet to fix the clog. For stubborn clogs in the toilet trap, a toilet auger—designed with a shorter cable and a protective plastic encasing—can navigate the tight bends and clear the clog without risking damage to the porcelain.

If you need to repair part of your plumbing, it will cost an average of $330. The cost of plumbing repairs is influenced by several factors, including the type of drain and the specific repair needed.

Ensuring your toilet will fit starts with measuring the rough-in, but there are a few other factors to consider. The toilet tank's height and the toilet's depth should fit comfortably within the bathroom’s current setup. When considering depth, look at the walking space around the toilet to ensure it fits in the bathroom.

A high pitch noise after flushing is likely caused by the fill valve being clogged with debris. You can repair this and eliminate the noise by removing the fill valve from the tank, and then cleaning the valve screen. Place the clean fill valve back in the tank and flush as normal.

Putting caulk around a toilet’s base where it touches the flooring can help hold the toilet in place. A more effective way is using caulk with plastic shim wedges. Place the shims underneath the base to steady and stabilize the toilet. Add some caulk to help keep the shims in place and provide a stronger and more lasting stabilization effect.
