"Started off through messaging via Angie's List and received a call from their call center / customer support - set up a callback to get a quote via phone. The next phone call I received was from Mike (Manager) whom listened to the request for a quote and provided a high overview on the following steps needed for the 200 amp panel box replacement - including potential timeframe for completion. After a quick site visit, Mike took care of setting up the remainder including the permit. A couple days later Scott (Technician) arrived and within 3 hours completed the job - replacing the box, clean-up, and ensuring all connections were up/running. The following day there was one more visit for inspection. Overall, I received plenty communications via email and phone (mobile) from Mr Electric to keep me posted on each step. Great service, fair pricing (parts/labor/permit), and great communication."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Newark offers a range of electrical contractors, including residential electricians for home electrical upgrades, commercial specialists, and contractors focused on panel replacements or generator installations. Some electricians in Newark also handle smart home integration and solar power systems. With the city’s mix of historic and newer homes, you’ll also find experts in rewiring and emergency repairs, especially after severe weather events common in the area.

Helpful?

Electrical upgrades in Newark provide immediate safety improvements, reduce fire risks, and allow for reliable use of modern appliances. Over time, these projects can increase your home’s value, lower insurance premiums, and prepare your property for future needs like electric vehicle charging. Working with local electricians also helps support Newark’s economy and aligns your home with energy efficiency initiatives tailored to the region’s climate.

Helpful?

Newark homes, especially those in older neighborhoods or historic districts, often have aging wiring like knob-and-tube or aluminum systems. If you notice flickering lights, frequent breaker trips, two-prong outlets, or warm outlets, it’s time to consult an electrical contractor. Newark’s seasonal humidity and ice can strain outdated systems, so upgrading ensures your home meets modern safety standards and supports today’s electrical demands.

Helpful?

Before hiring an electrical contractor in Newark, get multiple quotes and verify insurance coverage. Review local permit requirements and ask about city-specific codes, especially if your home is in a historic district. Notify your utility provider for major upgrades, and document your current electrical setup. Clear access to work areas and plan for potential power outages. For older homes, anticipate additional steps to preserve historic features.

Helpful?

In Newark, hidden costs often arise when upgrading older homes to meet current electrical codes, such as adding GFCI or AFCI outlets. Removing outdated wiring may reveal plaster or lath behind walls, requiring extra repairs. Some neighborhoods have unique permit or inspection needs, and temporary power shutoffs can add complexity. Always ask your electrical contractor about Newark-specific requirements to avoid surprises during your project.
