"Matt was informative, efficient, helpful and kind! We had never had our carpet cleaned and he cleaned all the spots and stains. Whenever I go up the stairs to the second floor I smell the delightful soft deodorized clean carpet. I am looking forward to having him clean our area rugs next with his low moisture cleaner! He did a wonderful job!"

"Both men I spoke with were polite, professional, quick, efficient.. all in all a very good company to work with. TJ hung multiple paintings for me, correctly set bookcases that didnâ t fit! Tim, the owner of this company is on the ball!! I would highly recommend them and will definitely rehire should the need arise."

"Mr. Pollman gave me a price over the phone of $60 for four arm chair covers.  We had initially decided to re-upholster the chairs due to our cats scratching up the arms.  I decided to find an upholsterer who could create fitted arm chair covers because we were not ready to spend a lot of money.  Mr.  Pollman gave me the $60 price over the phone.  I took one chair and the fabric to him on the west side (Montana Avenue).  It was a quick trip from Finneytown, and the price was superior to other estimates I received. The covers were ready in a couple of days.  I was very happy with the quality of the covers.  I had asked Mr. Pollman to make the covers extra long and fitted because our dog uses one of the chairs as his own and I did not want him to knock off the covers.  They were perfect.  It's been a couple of weeks and the covers have stayed firmly in place.  I am very happy with Mr. Pollman's work and will definitely use him again, as well as recommend him to family and friends.

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Regular vacuuming, spot cleaning, and protecting surfaces from sun exposure prevents wear and fading, preserving longevity.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

It is often worthwhile to refinish or restore furniture, especially for high-quality, older, antique, or sentimental pieces. Older furniture tends to have better durability than modern, mass-produced items, and refinishing can cost about one-third of the price of replacement. To determine if it's cost-effective, compare quotes from local refinishing services with the price of a new, similar piece. Refinishing can refresh a piece's look and extend its lifespan. However, it may not be worth it for newer furniture made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) or plywood, or for items with major structural damage. A professional can help you assess the piece and decide on the best course of action.

Doing your own upholstery work is possible, but it’s typically a better idea to leave the work to professionals. Without experience and the proper tools, it’s difficult to get a professionally finished appearance for your furniture, and many DIYers end up spending money on tools and materials only to hire a professional when they can’t get the fabric to look right. If you have reupholstery experience, feel free to give it a shot. However, if you’re not confident in your skill level or you’re working with antiques, it’s worth the money to hire a pro.

To safeguard your furniture and upholstered items, it's best to use plastic wrap or specially-made plastic sofa covers. However, you should avoid wrapping wooden furniture in plastic if you plan on storing it, as plastic can trap moisture and warp the wood, plus it may damage certain finishes. In either case, old blankets or moving blankets make excellent alternatives. For protecting delicate glass table tops and mirrors, bubble wrap is always a reliable choice.
