Customers say: Quality work

"I selected Rick Metz Fine Furniture Repair because he had the most 5 star reviews. And he did not let me down! I had an old cedar chest that was in my mother's family for years and was in pretty rough shape. Rick refinished the lid, touched up the rest of it, put new lacquer over all of it, and it is gorgeous! I was so pleased and he did all of this in about one week. I felt the cost was very reasonable for the job that he did too! I will use him again and recommend him to anyone. Peggy R. in Cincinnati, Ohio"

Small jobs welcome

"Craig really took his time making sure the carpets were clean. He thoroughly explained his process. Was really impressed on how well the carpets came out. With his enzymes there s very little water or steam. The carpets were dry in no time at all. Would definitely recommend this company. I will call them when I need carpets cleaned again."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

In Mason, homes with narrow staircases, split-level entries, or finished basements can make moving upholstered pieces challenging. Open floor plans with oversized windows may expose furniture to more sunlight, increasing the need for UV protection. If your home has hardwood floors, extra care is needed to avoid scratches during projects. Always consider how your layout might affect access and workspace for upholstering projects.

Helpful?

In Mason, you can address minor upholstering issues by blotting spills immediately with a pH-neutral cleaner, vacuuming fabric weekly to prevent dust buildup, and rotating cushions to reduce uneven fading from sunlight. Tighten any loose buttons or threads as soon as you notice them. For persistent odors, deep stains, or damaged frames, it’s best to consult a local professional familiar with Mason’s older homes.

Helpful?

In Mason, musty smells, persistent fabric discoloration, or fraying seams—especially after heavy rain—can indicate hidden moisture or frame damage. If you notice sagging cushions that don’t bounce back, deep pet claw marks, or creaking when you sit, these often point to weakening support structures. Early attention to these signs helps prevent more costly upholstering projects and preserves your furniture’s integrity.

Helpful?

Completing upholstering projects in Mason can enhance your home’s resale appeal, especially in neighborhoods with higher property values. Updated, well-maintained furniture creates a move-in ready impression that attracts buyers during Mason’s active spring market. Fresh upholstery signals that the home is cared for, which is particularly appealing to families and professionals looking for quality and comfort in their next home.

Helpful?

For upholstering projects in Mason, keep a moisture meter to check for hidden dampness, a handheld upholstery vacuum for regular cleaning, and pH-neutral fabric cleaners. Stock heavy-duty needles and thread for quick repairs, fabric protector spray for spills, and UV-resistant treatments for sunlit rooms. Furniture sliders and felt pads help protect floors during seasonal rearranging, which is common in Mason’s climate.
