Customers say: Quality work

"Outstanding service and quality. Retaining wall is beautiful and we received value added when they planted the landscaping! Also added job of digging up the turf under recently installed fence and placing landscape fabric and stones. Looks very nice and will save us time trimming. Also appreciated John's suggestions for plant placement and brick/ stone selection. Very helpful. We would definitely hire Concepts Green for future jobs."

"Absolutely wonderful company to deal with. Honest pricing and high-quality work. They paved my 4500sq driveway on August 16th, 2021, ended up working in torrential downpour that came from nowhere. Due to that driveway ended up being in few different shades of black and gray in spots. They offered to come out to sealcoat to make it look uniformed. Today, October 11 they are here doing just that! When they say that they wonâ t take your money till you happy, they really mean that. Nick is wonderful to work with and so is his paving crew. Sealcoat guys did a great job as well. Will use them in the future for all my paving and sealcoat needs."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

The recommended minimum amount for a paver base is 4 inches. From there, it depends on the kind of traffic the pavers will see and the current soil conditions. Two inches of paver base won’t create the amount of stability and support that pavers need to remain securely in place over time.

Professional installers often include a deep layer of crushed gravel under permeable pavers to allow more runoff to soak through into the soil below. Many installations will include multiple layers of gravel, with coarser aggregate at the base and finer aggregate that sits on top of that bottom layer. Above the gravel, you’ll often find coarse sand that helps reduce paver shifting over time. Some permeable paver designs include a water collection system set into the gravel layer to route runoff to a safe area for disposal.

If you're designing a new patio in an area with poor drainage, permeable pavers made from porous materials may help prevent water issues. Most permeable pavers feature a gravel-only aggregate base instead of a concrete base to allow water to flow through instead of getting trapped. While beneficial in some cases, permeable pavers come with higher initial costs and greater load-bearing limitations compared to traditional pavers.

While some areas may allow for a slope of up to 20%, this is often the maximum slope for driveways, with a few exceptions of up to 25%. Other regions may have a maximum of 12%, 15%, or 18%, so check with your local building department to ensure you’re laying a driveway that is up to code for your location.

An example of permeable paving is a set of cinder blocks or natural stone pavers with room inside for natural materials, such as gravel, sand, or grass. You can also design these pavers with brick or plastic tiles.

In addition to these pavers, permeable pavement can be obtained by using a highly porous material, such as pervious concrete or pervious asphalt.
