Customers say: Quick response

"I have used Timco Builders three times now. The sliding glass door replacement was the last. Tim has always been prompt to appointments and dependable and highest quality of work. In addition to excellent work he was very considerate regarding my home. He was very neat in his work and cleaned up after the job was done, or he left for the night to return the following day. I have other things I am going to do in my home in the future and I will always hire Timco Builders."

"It went very well.  He was very detail oriented and there were no hidden costs.  The bathroom turned out even better than we imagined.  We were on vacation when he worked on the bathroom and when we came home our bathroom was nicer than the resort we were staying at!  He had a lot of great ideas and was willing to work with us on what we wanted.  The subcontractors that came in were great as well."

"RA Cooks Renovations was a pleasure to work with. They have completed all of my major home Renovations. The renovated 3 bathrooms, my home salon, enclosed my sun room and redid a wall in my living room that was infested with termites. I'm completely satisfied with all work performed. I will soon be hiring them again to remodel my kitchen."

"Orlando is very thorough in explaining the process and goes out of his way to make sure that the consumer gets the most bang for their buck. He keeps you informed throughout the entire process and explains the necessary steps. This part was very important to me as a home owner to know the process and steps being taken."

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

Modular homes can go up or down in value depending on a few factors. In areas where real estate is appreciating, the value of modular homes is likely to increase, and vice versa. Additionally, the value of modular homes depends partially on the area. In cities where every other home is stick-built, modular homes might be considered a functional obsolescence, in which case they could be less desirable and go down in value. In either case, though, modular homes can still be a good investment, especially since they provide housing at a lower upfront cost.

Ultimately, a work warranty is only as reliable as the contractor you’ve hired. That’s why trust and reputation are such important factors, in addition to having a solid contract and confirming appropriate licensing, insurance, and bonding. When looking for a contractor, it’s a good idea to read online reviews and ratings to see what kind of experience past customers have had. Issues with your contractor can make for an unsatisfying renovation process, but a reliable contractor can make the process go as smoothly as possible.

Modular homes can be a great investment, especially for those who find the prices of stick-built real estate too high. Modular homes are usually much more affordable because they’re mass-manufactured and then assembled on-site or delivered mostly assembled. If they’re installed properly and by professionals, they can last for between 50 and 100 years, potentially making them an outstanding investment.

In most cases, you should get an architect before you hire a builder. An architect will be the one to draw up formal plans for your project, including guidelines and even material lists for your builder to follow during construction. Many architects can even help you find builders, choose one for your project, and negotiate prices. Some are also willing to act as project managers throughout the process, working closely with a builder from start to finish.

Whether it’s more affordable to gut a house than build a new one depends on the markets where you'd be buying and selling. However, it’s usually less expensive to renovate a home than to build new construction.

Most homeowners pay between $100,000 and $200,000 for demolition and remodeling costs, whereas the average cost to build a new home is between $139,000 and $531,300.
