"I have no complaints about the quality of the work completed. They were short one package of shingles and part of the crew had to return the next day to finish without the owner, and left some debris on part of the roof and did not clean up. I called the sales person about this and some guys returned a day or two later and cleaned everything up. Final results were excellent, just the one issue that was resolved. Would hire again!"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

On average, the cost of a home builder is about $150 per square foot, but that price can range from around $100 to $400 per square foot or more. That puts the typical price range of a standard, 2,000-square-foot house between $200,000 and $800,000. Some factors that affect the price of hiring a home builder include the following:

  • Location of your home and the living cost in the area

  • Type of foundation and framing you choose

  • Quality of the building materials

  • Footprint and layout of the house

  • Number of stories

  • Builder’s experience

How long it takes to build a log cabin depends on a variety of factors, including its size and design, and whether or not you have to clear the land. Construction can take a few weeks for a prefab log cabin on an established site, but up to eight or nine months for a custom cabin on undeveloped land. In comparison, the timeline to build a house is typically four to 12 months.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

While many different factors determine whether a house is classified as a villa, many villas are detached homes with a European design influence, often with an emphasis on luxury and comfort. Modern villas often feature outdoor spaces such as terraces, gardens, or patios.

Construction typically takes 3-6 months, including site preparation and assembly.
