"We contracted Brady's this year for snow removal at our church, Fellowship Baptist. They are doing a fantastic job—going well above and beyond expectations. I am a home maintenance company and I have been in business since 2002. I pride myself on being honest and dependable and I take pride in my work. I do not believe in creating more of a problem for my customer than they have or leaving my mess behind. If I can't do the job, I tell my customer up front and recommend another honest, dependable contractor. I do use subcontractors - BUT I am always on the job and I only use those who I have done business with for many years. I offer free estimates, but I do charge for written estimates.

"He and his 2 helpers were very prompt and cleaned up everything, but the quality of work was poor. Boards left too long or cut too short. Lattice work was terrible. We will need to redo. They were very rough on our other deck wood, leaving gouges. They used a nail gun that left splinters instead of deck screws. Daryl said he would return to look at it but we haven't seen him. All we want from him at this time is one board removed that he cut short, and a new 16' board, and we will put it down with deck screws and cut it to the correct length. We will eventually fix the shoddy lattice work ourselves. Too bad he didn't come back to at least do that much for us. Lost all faith in him."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

If you have a steep driveway, angular gravel, which is 3/4 to 2 inches in length, is a great choice. The stones won’t slide, allow for proper drainage, and stay in place even on the steepest slope.

Yes, a cubic yard of dirt will fit in most standard-size pickup trucks. However, consider the truck’s payload as well as the truck bed dimensions before loading it up with dirt. Soil can be quite heavy, and if the total weight of a yard of dirt exceeds your truck’s payload capacity, you risk damaging the chassis and suspension.

Because gravel moves, it requires different maintenance than asphalt or concrete. Here are a few maintenance tips for your gravel driveway. Every few years (or as often as needed):

  • Grade and level your driveway

  • Rake to fill holes and ruts

  • Compact any refilled potholes

  • Remove weeds with herbicide or by hand

  • Spray it with water to reduce the amount of dust kicked up

  • Avoid using a snowplow during winter months

Determine whether you have any other heavy, bulky, or oddly-shaped items you’d like to relocate, such as a washing machine or other appliance. Since many professional moving companies may charge minimum fees for their services, you could end up paying the same cost to move a refrigerator as you would to move the fridge and a second or third item.

Costs for lakefront landscaping are influenced by project size, choice of plants and materials, labor, and any additional features or structures desired. Projects can range from a few thousand dollars to extensive transformations costing much more.
