"I must admit, I really didn't think I needed a landscaper to work in my yard but my wife contacted one since we were getting new siding installed. I asked her , what's a landscaper going to do? I already mow and weed whack we don't need a landscaper. So a company came out and gave a quote. I nearly passed out at the price. She was still determined to hire this company. Luckily, the contractor doing my siding new of Best Value Landscaping and told me he could call Josh the Owner and ask him to come out and give me a quote. I told my wife to see what they had to offer. (Always best to get more than one quote no matter what the project) Josh came out with in a half hour of being contacted. He assessed the situation, came up with a plan and laid out indexable what the wife could expect and his reasoning for doing so. Wow, he came in under the competition and was also removing a stump that wasn't included in the first quote from the other company. Another tip of the hat to Josh was his professionalism, when I told him who the first company was. He told me how good they were and that if I wasn't using him I should go with the other company. Many businesses would have taken that opportunity to bash the competition but not Josh. We felt the integrity of his business from that time forward and had no doubt his company was who we wanted working on our yard. Now for the finished product. Let's just say we were amazed at the transformation from some landscaping. It certainly changed the whole look of our yard and house. It took Josh and another worker one day to transform our yard. Josh we thank you and your company for a job WELL DONE. I will be calling you in the future"

"Blue water was efficient about getting out to the house and within a week repaired two issues at my house with water getting into my basement and barn. Work was done skillfully with no damage done and smoothed out every area equipment was used. While on site I added some stump removal and was done before I knew it. Couldn’t recommend more."

"I used Ashley to help me with the design of an entryway and staircase at my new home. I really struggle to visualize spaces and see their potential. I was unsure of what type of style I was going for and was having decision paralysis. She responded quickly and gave me so many options to help choose the right aesthetic for my space. She worked within my budget and suggested improvements that I could do on my own (and I am not very handy). I will definitely use her again for my larger design projects!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Don’t worry if there’s a gap between cutting and planting an ideal branch. You can still cut the perfect branch when you see it. If you can’t get it in a pot or water right away, put it in a zip-top bag in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to finish the process, make a fresh cut.

The best time to plant a privet hedge is autumn, ideally October or early November. Fall is the best time to plant privet hedges because young plants need plenty of water to jump-start their growth, and it typically rains more during this season. However, you can also successfully plant privets in the spring.

The best type of rock for landscaping depends on your specific project and needs, as different rocks are suited for different applications. For covering large areas or creating an affordable driveway, consider gravel, but note that it can wash away in flowing water. For water features, river rocks are a good option. Flagstone and cobblestone are ideal for aesthetically pleasing patios and walkways. If you are building a stone wall, fieldstone or small boulders are up to the task. Large boulders and landscape rocks work well as statement pieces, to fill empty space, or to indicate boundaries, but be mindful that they can overwhelm smaller gardens. The best approach is to first define your landscaping project and then select the rock type that best fits that purpose.

If you choose to leave gaps between your pavers, you can grow some ground cover plants between them for an organic feel. Look for plants such as creeping thyme, dymondia, jewel mint of Corsica, or clover.

A scattering of leaves won’t pose a problem through the winter, but a thicker layer of leaves may not decompose before the first frost and can instead weigh down your grass and harbor mold or fungi. A thick layer of leaves also cuts off light and air that grass needs to grow. That’s why we suggest removing thick leaf layers within several days if possible. If your lawn goes dormant over the winter and snow has already caught up with you, then remove the leaves in early spring before your grass-growing season starts so your lawn can thrive.
