"Basically it went very well. Mark and Martin showed up when they indicated, did a quick once-over of what I had to move and said it would be no trouble getting the items into the truck. They set to work quickly, worked rapidly, and wrapped up a couple of fragile items including a glass-fronted stereo rack and an antique desk. They moved the items quickly to Columbus, getting back slightly before me, and unloaded them quickly and put them upstairs in my house, not an easy task. They also moved from upstairs to basement a heavy treadmill machine, something I'd needed done for some time and greatly appreciated. All of the move and loading and unloading was done in 2 hours, which impressed me greatly. My only minor gripe was not with the movers but with Angie's List, which did not really inform me that there was an extra charge of $120 for the truck and movers to come out to the Heath area from Columbus. This is something that should be made clearer to future customers of a deal like this. Otherwise, I was extremely satisfied."

"Hedrick and James the team that installed our french drain and painted our walls did an excellent job. They were very efficient, polite and professional even returning on the week-end to finish the work. Mike Bird is very professional and easy to work with. I would recommend this company to anyone."

"Well, the only hickup was that one window was shattered upon removal, staff cleaned it up completely, not a spec left. The windows are very nice, outside they look fabulous. No more drips into the house when it rains! YAY! I didn't pay extra for the carpenter work that needs done, but the inside can be painted pretty easily. I wont have to break a sweat. As far as price goes, I know that it costs a lot for windows and mine needed special measuring because my house was built in 1900 and a few of the windows hadn't been updated since then. But, I think the price was a little steep. (almost $5,000 for 5 windows). I am glad I made the investment, but I still think it was a little steep. I will use Window Nation for the last 6 windows in a few years or as soon as I can save up another $6,000. I do highly recommend Hamaad M. and his crew, they were very diligent and had great attention to details with excellent camaraderie. Hamaad M. even tightened a screw to a door that was loose. Above and beyond!"

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

The easiest way for DIYers to smooth the edges of cut glass is to use sandpaper. Wearing protective gloves, gently sand the sharp edges smooth using low-grit sandpaper and working up to high-grit sandpaper. You can also use a multitool with a rotating sandpaper cylinder to make quicker work of the project.

They offer increased safety, noise reduction, and protection from extreme weather.

You can use hot, soapy water, white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, window cleaner, nail polish remover, WD-40, and cooking oil to remove glass labels. You can also apply heat with a hair dryer or steam cleaner. Use a plastic scraper or credit card to remove the adhesive, as a razor blade can permanently scratch your glass.

Never put glass in the garbage disposal. It can damage your disposal or eject shards of glass out of the disposal and cause injury. If you get broken glass in your garbage disposal, turn it off and cut the power from the breaker, use a tool like pliers or tongs to remove the glass, and use a wet-dry vacuum to remove the remaining glass pieces. If you can’t access the disposal safely, call a garbage disposal repair pro.

There is no blanket number when it comes to glass thickness for soundproofing. Thicker glass does help reduce noise, but it’s only part of the solution. Most single-pane windows use glass that’s ⅛” to ¼” thick. While increasing the thickness can cut down on sound, the real noise-blocking power comes from stacking layers. Double—and triple-pane windows are far more effective for soundproofing. The combination of mass and separation breaks up sound waves better than thick glass could on its own.
