"A1-Quality-Work!
I had a small job on our roof and a few contractors came and gave quotes. Not only was Andrew's Roofing's quote reasonable, but they were pleasant, on time, and professional.
What bothered me with most other contractors that they all seem to have found "sever problems" with the roof and offer their services to maintain and repair those problems.
The interesting thing is that each roofer found different problems, and when asked about the other issues (that previous contractors found) they always said that that's not a concern.
On the flip side, some roofers I've had out over the past 10 years thought it could be fixed with some very expensive caulk.
Andrew's Roofing was the only contractor that thought that the roof was fine and didn't require expensive repairs. Our roof just needed some maintenance -- we had a couple small leaks around the chimneys. We had several contractors over the years caulk or re-flash around them but it never fixed the underlying issue. Andrew determined the problem required the shingles around the chimneys to come off and replaced the rotted wood underneath and installed ice and water shield all around the chimneys before painstakingly replacing the shingles.
We haven't had any leaks since, and the roof looks great.

"Handyman Matters did a great job of repairing very large hole in finished basement drywall including painting to match existing color.  Also installed vanity / sink / light fixture / mirror / baseboard / towel racks in bathroom plus painting the room.  Looks great, price was reasonable, and quality of work was very high.  The company was very efficient in producing quotes and meeting the promised schedule.

"I got Jim's voicemail when I called but he returned the call promptly.  He was punctual in arriving for the estimate and provided the most competitive estimate combination of price and time to completion.  We chose a color for the vinyl that nearly matched the original siding (the selection samples he had were from new siding and the siding on the house had weathered some over 17 years).  I gave him a deposit and he said he'd get started.  His folks did get started as promised but his siding supplier gave them the wrong color of siding.  His crew put it up before either him or I got a look as the color.  Jim got to see it before I did and called me to warn me.  It took a couple of extra days (still within my timeframe) but he redid it with right color.  It's not a perfect match (hard to do unless your replace it all) but it looks pertty good!  His guys used some of the salvageable siding from the back to complete the replacement on the side that saved me a little money and matched the side even better than the back.  They did a decent job on the masonry repair too.       "

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Fixed skylights are by far the most popular type. Because skylights can be pretty high up on your ceiling, fixed (rather than operable) skylights remove some maintenance from the equation. Plus, you don’t have to constantly worry if you shut your skylight fully the last time you opened it or if you’re going to find a leak later on during a rainy day.

Ceiling costs depend on many factors, such as the material used and size, but coffered ceilings are considered one of the more expensive ceiling options. If you want to install a coffered ceiling but have a limited budget, consider using plywood instead of hardwood—it costs $2–$4.50 per square foot, while hardwood can be as much as $20 per square foot.

Skylights might sometimes increase your homeowners insurance premium, but the increase is usually minimal. Some home insurance companies won’t adjust your premium with the addition of a skylight, so you can contact your insurer or your professional skylight installer to ask about any expected changes. It’s crucial to have an expert install the skylight, as insurance companies may not insure your roof or cover water damage that results from a non-professional skylight installation.

Yes, you can install skylights on an existing roof, and it’s a common service that many homeowners opt for, especially on older homes built when skylights weren’t as prevalent. The installation process will be a bit more involved, and the design and planning process will take longer, meaning you’ll pay more to install a skylight on an existing roof than you would in new construction. The process involves cutting a hole in the roof, moving rafters, if necessary, and installing and sealing around the skylight.

Most homeowners insurance policies cover skyight damage that is caused by hail. Hail damage is considered a covered peril under most standard insurance policies. However, this only applies if your skylights were properly installed. Also, insurance policies vary, so be sure to check your individual policy to see if skylight hail damage is covered.
