"Extreme Heating and Air Conditioning installed an 18 SEER HVAC system with zone control for me. I am very pleased with the results and performance of the system - far better than the previous system WRT air flow balance. All personnel were very knowledgeable and professional and I highly recommend this company. Thanks to Tristan, Brett, Ryan, Joe, Paul and special thanks to Dave and Tyler for working through some parts failures. I am very pleased."

"The true test of any service company, is how they react in an emergency. I contacted several HVAC companies and they were more interested in selling me an overpriced unnecessary HVAC system. Emmanuel listen to my issue, responded that he could come out and take a look and give me an honest estimate. But in fact he did more than that. He came out he looked at the problem he fixed it and my issue was solved in a very short amount of time. No sales pitch, no unnecessary items, no diagnosing of things that did not to be diagnosed. If you're going to pick anybody to work on your hvac, ignore every other business on this website. You should be working with this company. Trust me you will not regret it. And finally let me add, I used to be employed by a company that dealt in HVAC supplies. So I know what I'm talking about. Emmanuel and his company are the real deal."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

A new air conditioner capacitor will cost less than replacing the entire air conditioner system. While a capacitor itself will cost between $8 and $25, paying a professional to replace an AC capacitor will cost $180 on average. It’s not safe to replace an air conditioner capacitor on your own.

Replacing an HVAC system does not always include new ductwork. The decision depends on the condition of your existing ducts. If they are in good shape, correctly sized for the new unit, and meet current standards, they can often be reused. However, if the ducts are damaged, poorly designed, or improperly sized, they will likely need to be replaced or upgraded to ensure the new system operates efficiently. An HVAC contractor will assess your ductwork and recommend the best course of action. Typically, ductwork is purchased separately, and a full replacement will add to the overall project cost.

A dirty AC filter can lower the efficiency of your system, so depending on how dirty it was, you may notice a temperature difference when you clean your filter. You can try other solutions if your AC isn’t blowing as cold as it used to. You can call in a local HVAC tech to make sure everything is running correctly, fix your air seal if it’s a window unit, and clean your coils.

If you have central air conditioning, it’s fine to run your AC all day if that’s what you want—as long as the AC unit is in good condition. But if your AC runs constantly when you don’t want it to, there may be a problem with your system (like the ones we’ve mentioned above). Window AC units and wall air conditioners aren’t as powerful as central AC, so you should only run those kinds of air conditioners for eight to 12 hours at a time.

Most HVAC service calls include diagnostic fees, which could include checking on a specific issue you’re experiencing or running through a routine inspection checklist. If you called for a particular problem, the service call will also include an estimate to fix the issue, including materials and labor. Depending on your HVAC technician and the service you requested, you might also get a general inspection of your system components to ensure everything is working as intended.
