"Replaced damaged pieces on side of house (high visibility area) by harvesting pieces from the back of house (low visibility area). The new pieces were then added to the back which was still a very close match visually."

"We cannot say enough great things about Tristate Complete Home Repair! We just finished up a partial renovation of the interior of our Hoosier Homestead farmhouse, and Tristate did a fabulous job! The house had spent decades under the care of our aging parents, so it needed a lot of careful attention to update nearly everything without compromising the unique historical beauty of the house. Owner Tim of Tristate brought decades of renovation experience to our project, leading a crew of workers representing all the trades. This meant fewer delays and mistakes on our project. No regrets here. We look forward to future work from Tristate!"

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"Not sure what to say about my experience.  I live in a different state but still own our first house which is a rental in OH.  When items need to be fixed I have to depend on recommendations for service providers and trust they will deliver as promised.  HandyMan Matters came with good reviews on Angie's list so I decided to call them.  Everything went well at first- I spoke to Paul the owner directly to discuss my needs about needing a tub surround.  We decided to go with the cheaper solution instead of the more expensive 2 day option since it was a rental (functional only) and I was quoted around $4-500.  Dave the service man called and I had very good rapport with him.  We talked about what I wanted and agreed to 2 other items with Dave stating that the cost would be minimal.  The work was completed on time, however the surprise came in the final bill which was just under $1500.  $1081+ for labor and another $375 for materials.  I alawys expect a $1-200 difference for services but this was 3 x what was quoted.  They were nice to work with, delivered as promised, yet billed far more than I expected.  When I asked to speak with Paul he promptly called me back but offered nothing in terms of an apology for the cost difference.  I didn't expect to have the cost reduced-I'll pay for services I receive.  However, like most families I need to stay within a budget and this sure shot mine for the next 3 months, especially for work that wasn't a must.  In 13 years of owning a rental property this has never happened to me.  So I am torn writing this review-they were very nice, however  in this day and age when there are many service providers to choose from I would have expected at least validation of my complaint about the cost.
My advice- call them to do the work but get an esitimate in writing and realize that what you discuss with Paul may not be related to the person who does the work.

"Overall, I was very pleased with how the siding turned out on my house.  I’ve dealt with many contractors over the years, and I would hire Archie and his crew again.  There was a delay starting the job, but the timing was during the heart of winter in this area.  My house is a 3,300 sq. ft. ranch that had its fair share of rotten trim and wood, and Archie's crew worked consistently on it for a little over a week.  The workers were nice and stayed busy while here.  The original siding was painted wood, and the board and baton vinyl maintained some of its original look without tasking me with continued maintenance like the way it was.  I was impressed with how Archie stuck with his original quote without cutting any corners.  There were a few times I would wonder if something was going to be trimmed like agreed upon, but I quickly learned Archie was on top of it and it would get done.  There were a few nick knack things afterwards, but for the size of this house, none of it was a big deal and easily fixed in a matter of minutes.  It was a pretty straight forward transaction.  I look forward to doing business with them again"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Yes, clapboard siding generally costs more compared to vinyl. The average cost for vinyl siding is between $2 and $7 per square foot. Meanwhile, clapboard siding costs $4 to $20 per square foot.

Vinyl siding is the cheapest option in terms of upfront costs. The average cost to install vinyl siding is around $12,173, with certain types like vinyl shake, clapboard, or dutch lap costing as little as $2 to $3 per square foot. While vinyl is very low-cost, it may not last as long as natural materials or metal, with a typical lifespan of 20 to 40 years. In contrast, metal siding is more expensive initially but can save you money in the long run due to its longer lifespan, which is often double that of vinyl. It's recommended to consult a siding professional to determine if the lowest-cost option is the best material for your specific home.

If you’re wondering how to make wood siding last longer, including Composite T1-11, inspect it annually or quarterly to spot and repair cracks, holes, or chipped areas. You’ll also want to re-stain the wood every 3 to 5  years or repaint every 7 to 10 years for protection (note that repainting requires stripping and sanding off old paint as well). Lastly, keep up with regular cleanings using a garden hose or low-pressure power washer to help prevent grime and discoloration.

Composite siding is very resistant to warping that can affect some other sidings. Because of its composition, this siding doesn’t have the same risks of moisture damage that can cause rotting, buckling, and warping. Composite material doesn’t warp in high temperatures the way some kinds of vinyl siding can.

That said, composite siding is not entirely immune from moisture damage. It should still be properly installed so that moisture can properly drain from behind the siding, and protected by eaves and clean gutter so the siding doesn’t get repeatedly soaked by rain, which could lead to damage.

Siding colors that go well with a green roof include off-red, beige, white, gray, brown, and even another green. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your green roof. This roof color has character, and playing with your color palette can really add to the natural charm of the house.
