"It was pretty good. They were on time and they got the work done quickly. The sales guy was helping during finacing and giving plenty of information. The only thing that was negative was when they were digging the concrete and hauling it out, they left the door open from the basement so the entire first floor was covered in a layer of dust. "Prior to choosing ABS, I received several quotes and made my final decision based ABS being family owned and operated. When I received my quote from Aaron, he inspected my crawl space and outside my home. He took several reading of the moisture throughout the wood. Aaron spent several hours going over all the issues he found. Time was not an issue for Aaron, as he explained the situation to us, he answered all our questions (sometimes twice) and was very polite. Now onto the days of installation, day one, Joe their lead engineer and crew arrived onsite. Joe was polite and knowledge of the job he was there to perform. He stayed in constant contact with me. Walked me through the process they were doing each day. They spent 5 days due to the size of the job. On day 4 is where they had issues, some larger jobs tends to have unexpected complications. The complications are where you will know if you hired a good company or not. As I stated Joe’s continuous communication with me helped me understand their issues and the company’s solutions. They had to call in more support and because this is a family owned company even the owner showed up. They took the time to explain to me what was happening and what they did to fix the issues. They did not charge me the additional material or time. They went above and beyond what most companies would have done. Now I have a solid and dry crawl space and that is all thanks to American Basement Solutions. "The "waterproofing" lasted about one year, and then we began to see the exterior waterproofing concrete sperate from the foundation. We also began to see more water in the basement as a result. I had Quality Waterproofing back out, they claimed that they were asked to do a band-aid job by the previous home owners. They informed the home owners the job would only last one year, to which the home owners said they would have it done correctly the year after. The home owners instead sold the house to us, and did not have the remaining work done.
Quality Waterproofing informed me that they will not warranty their existing work, as our concrete driveway and sidewalk need to be excavated, and re-made to push the water away from the house. They provided me an impromptu quote, which was about $3200 to do said work. They did say they would come out and redo one of the interior cracks in the basement wall. This was some help in reducing water seepage into the basement. They would not redo the existing concrete which was separating from the house foundation along the sidewalk and driveway.
I found this to be a bit absurd, while the previous homeowners certainly were dishonest in their dealings with Quality Waterproofing. Quality Waterproofing took the money, performed the shoddy band-aid fix and they put an equally shoddy warranty on it. The home inspector should of caught this poor work and informed me, and Quality Waterproofing should of not performed such a poor job if they could not warranty it. It is not my fault the original home owners lied, and it is not my fault they performed such poor work. I will have another contractor out in March to quote the job and fix the issue with an actual warranty worth something.
